No BS Beauty's Lip Products Guide: What She Rates and What She Skips

Across at least 40 lip products, she approved about three in four and skipped only a few, with a clear preference for lightweight, tasteless formulas that actually sink in.

No BS Beauty has reviewed a lot of lip products, and her record is worth paying attention to. She went through at least 40 of them, approved about three in four, gave a couple a mixed take, and skipped the rest, landing at an approval rate of 75%. Her outright winners are Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm, Tatcha Kissu Lip Mask, Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment, and Paula's Choice Pro Collagen Peptide Gloss Balm.

What does No BS Beauty recommend in lip?

She keeps coming back to the same things. She loves a formula with no taste and no real scent, even when fragrance is listed. She praised the Paula's Choice Pro Collagen Peptide Gloss Balm for having "no taste at all" and a natural glossy finish, and said the same about the Tatcha Kissu Lip Mask, calling it her long-running holy grail. Texture matters too: she wants something that soaks in, not something that just sits on top. Peptides, squalene, and vitamin E show up in her approvals, but the feel is what she keeps talking about. The Dior Addict Lip Glow Balm made her top picks partly because she wore one down completely over years, which says a lot about how she weighs real loyalty to a product.

No BS Beauty's lip product picks, in her words

"It's the Tatcha Kissu Lip Mask, it's 29 bucks. It's got part of the Matrix of 3000 peptide, it's got vitamin E, squalene, peach kernel, and lanolin. No noticeable flavor, although when I was looking at the ingredients it does contain fragrance but it has no scent to it. I like it. This is my holy grail for a long time, it's still really wonderful. Great nighttime mask with a thicker texture."
"This is probably my third tube of it and I have two more tubes as backup. [...] A friend was asking me about it when she was getting [...] fine lines around her mouth, and I told her to try this one. She'd been using Carmex [...] her entire life, and once she switched from Carmex to something with good ingredients in there, it really made a huge difference. She's sold more people on this lip balm than I have, and the fact that she loves it says something because she's kind of picky."
"Their lip glowy serum balm it's a little bit better I like it better than the lip sleeping mask personally."
"Dior Addict Lip Glow Balm in shade 600, which I don't know if they make anymore but it's almost done. I think it's at the very end of it, it's probably five years old or more, but I got my money's worth because I literally wore this down to the very bottom. So at the end of it if there's a little bit left in there I can take a little lip brush and apply it from that."
"I really like this one, I think it's Lagona, and then that one's a little bit darker. [...] I really like them so I have them in like three or four different shades and I keep sometimes in my purse too."
"Pillow Talk lip oil, yes that's it."

How many lip products has No BS Beauty reviewed?

No BS Beauty has reviewed 38 lip products, for an approval rate of 74%. 28 approved, 2 mixed, and 8 skipped.

What has No BS Beauty skipped in lip?

Texture is where she draws the line. She skipped The Ordinary Squalane + Amino Acids Lip Balm because it felt like a paste rather than a gloss or gel. She set the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask aside for feeling waxy and heavy, saying it sits on the skin rather than sinking in. The COSRX Lip Balm was a skip for a different reason: she found what looked like mold, gelling, or crystallisation across multiple product examples she came across, and said she would not put it on her lips. She also noted that Bite Beauty changed its Agave lip formula when it went vegan, that the reception was poor, and that the brand never quite recovered from it.

What should you take from No BS Beauty's picks?

No BS Beauty's approval rate of 75% across at least 40 lip products is solid. Her picks skew toward lightweight, unflavoured balms and serums with skin-care ingredients. If a formula feels waxy, pasty, or heavy, she tends to skip it, which is handy to know for anyone who dislikes that kind of texture. Her named winners are a tight, reliable shortlist to start from.
