These are the 25 cleansers that the dermatologists and skincare experts we follow rate most highly for sensitive skin, ranked purely by how warmly they talk about them in their own reviews. No brand pays to appear, and the order updates as new reviews come in.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water leads with a Guru Score of 96% from 20 gurus. If price matters, the top budget buy is Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser at number 2, with a Guru Score of 92%. Of the 22 we hold a full ingredient list for, 22 skip drying alcohol, 18 are fragrance-free, 6 contain hyaluronic acid and 5 contain ceramides.

Under each pick is what the experts liked about it and, where we hold one, a line a guru actually said about it. A Guru Certified mark means broad agreement across many experts. Skin is personal, so anything new is best patch-tested first.

Wondering why your favourite isn't here?

Some of the most talked-about cleansers don't make this ranking. That isn't because the experts dislike them: every one of these has fans. They just drew more reservations than the cleansers that made the cut, where last place holds a Guru Score of 70%. Here is what holds each one back.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

A Guru Score of 68% from 13 experts.

The reservation, in Dr Dray's words:

I have had no success with this Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water whatsoever. I find it deplorable, it burns my eyes, it actually burns my skin, and I don't have particularly sensitive skin. Watch ▸

BYOMA Melting Balm Cleanser

A Guru Score of 68% from 7 experts.

The catch: Won't remove waterproof mascara reliably

Who's doing the judging

Ranked from the public takes of 43 independent gurus, including 15 dermatologists, 5 makeup artists and 3 beauty journalists.

These are independent experts we follow, not an in-house panel. We collect opinions they have already shared publicly on YouTube; they are not connected to The Guru Index and have not endorsed this ranking. "Guru" is our own editorial title for the voices we trust.

Q7

How is this ranking decided?

We rank by the Guru Index consensus score: the warmth of every independent expert take we have logged for each product, with a minimum number of reviewers required so a single enthusiastic review can't top the list. Nothing here is paid placement.
