The 25 eye care products that dermatologists and skincare experts rate highest, ranked by genuine consensus.
What changed, 21 October: The Ordinary Lacto-PDRN 4% + B9 Eye Cream joined the top ten, at number 9.
Eye care is one of the more sceptical categories for the gurus, who are quick to ask whether a pricey eye cream is doing anything a good moisturizer would not.
The experts on our roster tend to split eye products by the job they actually do. Some target crepey texture, fine lines and crow's feet with gentle actives like low-dose retinal and peptides, while others simply hydrate and depuff so concealer sits better. What earns steady praise is a formula gentle enough for the thin skin around the eye that still shows a visible result over weeks.
The honest debate is about value. A recurring theme in the reviews is that plenty of the benefit comes from consistent hydration rather than an exotic ingredient, so the gurus reward eye products that are well formulated and tolerable over ones that lean on marketing. The ranking below leans on that judgement rather than on price.

Some of the most talked-about eye care products don't make this ranking. That isn't because the experts dislike them: every one of these has fans. They just drew more reservations than the eye care products that made the cut, where last place holds a Guru Score of 77%. Here is what holds each one back.

A Guru Score of 73% from 18 experts.
The reservation, in Mad About Skin's words:
The Ordinary already had a 5% caffeine eye serum and that I never got on with. It was very oily, it was greasy, and it dried the under eye if you used it too frequently.Watch ▸

A Guru Score of 71% from 13 experts.
The catch: Puffiness reduction is temporary

A Guru Score of 71% from 11 experts.
The reservation, in No BS Beauty's words:
Their Multi-Peptide Eye Serum, it was okay. I didn't love it.Watch ▸

A Guru Score of 73% from 9 experts.
The catch: Can cause rebound redness if overused
Ranked from the public takes of 38 independent gurus, including 11 dermatologists, 5 makeup artists and 2 doctors.
These are independent experts we follow, not an in-house panel. We collect opinions they have already shared publicly on YouTube; they are not connected to The Guru Index and have not endorsed this ranking. "Guru" is our own editorial title for the voices we trust.
On the latest data it is Beauty of Joseon Revive Eye Serum: Ginseng + Retinal, with a Guru Score of 93% from 18 gurus. The ranking above lists all 25 that clear our bar, in order.
Of the 11 dermatologists whose reviews feed this ranking, more approve of RoC Retinol Correxion Line Smoothing Eye Cream than any other pick: 8 of them. It holds a Guru Score of 78%, at number 21 on the list. Next come Beauty of Joseon Revive Eye Serum: Ginseng + Retinal and DRMTLGY Luminous Eye Corrector SPF 41, with 5 each.
The Ordinary Lacto-PDRN 4% + B9 Eye Cream, at number 9 on the list, with a Guru Score of 84% from 5 gurus.
Of the 17 we hold a full ingredient list for, 16 are fragrance-free, 15 skip drying alcohol, 10 contain hyaluronic acid and 10 contain peptides. That is a pattern in what the experts rate, not a rule: the ranking itself is by their verdicts.
Not always, and several gurus say so plainly. Many find a gentle facial moisturizer carried up to the eye does much of the work, and treat a dedicated eye product as worthwhile mainly when it targets a specific concern like crepey texture or persistent puffiness. The thin skin there does reward a gentle, well-tolerated formula.
We rank by the Guru Index consensus score: the warmth of every independent expert take we have logged for each product, with a minimum number of reviewers required so a single enthusiastic review can't top the list. Nothing here is paid placement.
