What the gurus are saying

Its light gel texture and mild, non-stripping feel win over many reviewers, who say it isn't drying and suits those with sensitive skin. Low foam puts some people off, though others say it still cleans well, and a few find it struggles with heavy makeup and costs too much. Its mild acidity is worth watching, since some experts prefer a skin-neutral pH, and it's suggested as a morning cleanser for days with several layers of SPF.

"Right now I'm reaching for the Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Refreshing Cleanser as my morning cleanser during the heat wave. It's more gel-like and foamy than the lotion balm cleansers I prefer in winter, and I feel like it gets into all the nooks and crannies and lifts the gunk out of my pores. It has a really nice firm foam and is absolutely non-stripping, which is very important to me so I don't strip my skin of extra hydration."

"Don't think that because it's slightly lower foam that it's not cleansing your skin. It cleanses the skin very effectively. This is actually one of my favorite recommendations for oily skin because I'm not going to be recommending high pH cleansers to anybody. Even if your skin is oily, it's just not good for your skin barrier. So this is a really nice light one with a fun type of texture."

"I like the Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Refreshing Cleanser, too. [...] It's very gentle, low pH, so makes it nice for most skin types, and has plum and blueberry and stuff in there, which is also worth checking out."

K-Beauty Cleansers - Which One is Best for You? One for Every Skin Type
"The Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Refreshing Cleanser is one of my favorites for sensitive skin. It's [...] fragrance free and contains some soothing ingredients such as green tea, houttuynia cordata leaf, and blueberry. It's a really nice product. [...] When I bought it, I was thinking green plum sounds like it's going to be very scented and irritating, and it's not, so they did a good job with that one."

"I see so many positive reviews for this on Amazon, but it's a gel so it makes too little foam, it doesn't really cleanse that well, it just smells good. This can't really appeal to Koreans. Compared to other brands they do a lot of promotion, but it's pretty expensive, and this brand isn't going so well in Korea. It's a little too expensive and I don't find any good reason to use this."

What You Should Know Before You Buy Viral Korean Skincare Products!
"I know this is viral and popular, but it's pretty good. I was testing so many cleansers because my skin is drier than normal, but after I wash my face with this it doesn't dry me off at all. If you have heavy makeup on I feel like it doesn't erase it that well, but with just sunscreen or light makeup it's fine. It lives up to the hype, I'll pick this one."

"I don't understand why this gel cleanser has so many reviews. The texture is very light since it's a gel, and it says it's a low pH cleanser, but I don't think it cleanses as well as it should. If you already have it, you can use it as a second cleanser or a morning cleanser, that's about it. I kind of prefer other cleansers."

"This is the Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Refreshing Cleanser. It used to be an oldie and a favorite of mine years ago, and I [...] recently [...] rediscovered my love of it. It's beautiful, super lightweight, really refreshing. It doesn't have any artificial fragrance in it but it does have a light pick-me-up scent which I absolutely love. It doesn't strip or dry but gets the job done. I'd say this is a perfect morning cleanser for people that are wearing multiple layers of SPF."

BEST KOREAN SKINCARE BRAND 2024 - Beauty Of Joseon Review
"The Plum cleanser is pH balanced to what your skin should be so it's got a lower pH than a lot of cleansers out there so it's not going to disrupt the skin's microbiome and pH levels. This is great and normally you have to pay a fair amount when it comes to a pH balanced cleanser, not for this one. This is a really, really nice option matched to your skin."

"I recently finished up the Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Refreshing Cleanser. I was using this for a bit in the shower as the second step in my double cleanse, and it's nice, it's a gel cleanser, hydrating, not overly drying, doesn't have a robust foam. It's one of those gel cleansers that's a little bit slippery in your hands though, so you have to be careful with it, but it was good."

"It has a lovely gel texture, and the surfactants are mild. Sodium cocoyl isethionate is [...] really good for sensitive skin, and [...] glycerin makes it very hydrating. I would say this is a lovely hydrating cleanser for sensitive skin, and I'd give it seven out of ten. Mildly acidic is something to be careful of, since we prefer skin-neutral pH products."

5 Beauty of Joseon Products That Will CHANGE Your Skin!
"This is a mild soap free cleanser, it's really good for sensitive skin. It's an anionic surfactant, which is interesting because it basically means it's a negative charge ionic factant. They're able to lift dirt and suspend dirt and debris better. Plus it's got glycerin in it which makes it very hydrating to the skin. I would say this is a lovely hydrating cleanser for sensitive skin and I give it a lovely seven out of 10."

"I would say that this is actually one of the most hydrating cleansers I've used. There was zero tightness on my skin after using this. There are a bunch of antioxidants in it which can potentially help reduce a bit of that cleansing irritation and it is slightly acidic to match your skin's natural pH. With a lot of foaming Korean cleansers you tend to get this really amazing fluffy dense foam but then they have a really high pH and that tends to help strip your skin and irritate it."
