"This looks really promising. I have yet to use a Beauty of Joseon product that I did not enjoy to some extent, some more than others, and I often enjoy their toners. This has glycolic acid and salicylic acid, which is a good ingredient combination for blackheads, whiteheads, and cutting down on build up of dry rough skin, [...] as well as keratosis pilaris."

"If you are seeing these ingredients right now in Korean skincare they are absolutely hot and trending. Green plum, green tomato, antioxidant benefits, very similar benefits as Vitamin C. So if you're someone who just loves Vitamin C and high concentration of it, you are going to absolutely love the green plum AHA BHA toner by Beauty of Joseon. It is absolutely fabulous. You can use it three to four times a week, five times a week as well. Start using it and see how your skin is responding."

"Another toner I've tried great if you're more maybe oily combination skin is the one from Beauty of Joseon and it's their Green Plum Refreshing Toner, again very watery and it contains a blend of alpha hydroxy acid and beta hydroxy acid, 2% glycolic and 5% salicylic acid. A light refreshing toner."

"Glycolic acid is a resurfacing acid with a tiny molecular weight, and the smallest molecular weight flies through the skin and can lead to the most damage and irritation. [...] I love that they combined AHA and BHA, but they picked the wrong AHA. It's a mistake to wear glycolic acid every morning and night, and [...] I certainly wouldn't recommend this product to my skin of color family. It gets a two out of 10."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Salicylic acid

Salicylic acid dissolves in oil, so it can get into a pore rather than just working on the surface. That is why it has long-standing evidence for blackheads and milder acne.

Alpha hydroxy acids

Alpha hydroxy acids loosen the bonds holding dead cells at the surface. The evidence supports smoother texture and more even tone over time, and they can leave skin more sensitive to sun.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
