What the gurus are saying

This mineral sunscreen earns consistent praise for delivering minimal to no white cast, which gurus call unusually impressive for an all-mineral formula. The lightweight texture and blend of niacinamide and ceramides appeal to those with sensitive, oily, or mature skin, and the under-$16 price point makes it accessible. One note: a few gurus flag that any remaining white cast may be more visible on darker skin tones, and those with very dry skin may find it less ideal than a formula designed for their needs.

"This is one of the best sunscreen releases this year. It's all mineral and I don't know how they made it so lightweight. It has niacinamide as well and doesn't leave much of a white cast for my skin tone. So I want to buy more for next summer. [...] I'm definitely going to get this."

“Boring” Skincare That Works Better Than Viral Products (Dermatologist Picks)
"My review is thumbs up. Nice to have an all mineral sunscreen, meaning it has titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, no chemical UV filters. If you have sensitive skin and you're worried about chemical UV filters irritating your skin, [...] if you do have sensitive skin and have rosacea and want to stick to all mineral, go ahead and try this one out. It's [...] very affordable and has niacinamide and ceramide. But it's not water resistant, so just keep that in mind."
CeraVe’s New Mineral Sunscreen… Is It Actually Invisible?
"I got to give it a thumbs up. I got to give it a probably a nine out of 10. It's just affordable, accessible. [...] It has the ingredients that I want. Not only is it just mineral based, but it has your ceramides to help repair the skin barrier as well as niacinamide to soothe, repair, and also maybe brighten the skin a bit and regulate sebum for my patients with acne-prone skin. [...] It's almost like a unicorn or it's too good to be true to be all mineral but have no white cast."
If Your Skin Looks Dull, Do This Drugstore Routine
"CeraVe's new Invisible Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 also has niacinamide. If you want a mineral, all mineral option, check out that new one. [...] I did a review on it a few weeks ago and it's great. I'm so glad we got samples of that in my clinic."
Best Sunscreens of 2026- Dermatologist Picks
"This SPF 50 sunscreen is so great. [...] I've been impressed by how lightweight this all mineral sunscreen is. Usually mineral sunscreens are notorious for being white casting, they can give you a pretty dramatic white cast, and CeraVe is notorious before for their hydrating mineral sunscreens to cause a dramatic white finish. So I love this new one, they did a great job. It has niacinamide, which is soothing, it helps regulate sebum production, it can brighten the skin, and it's all mineral."
New Skincare Products That Actually Impressed a Dermatologist
"Now they came up with this Invisible Mineral SPF 50 that is all mineral and somehow is lightweight and does not leave my face with a white cast. It has nice ceramides that help support the skin barrier, and if you have oilier skin types it'll help regulate sebum. It's just a great product, I'm so impressed, and I love seeing affordable skin care come through and be lightweight and elegant. Good job CeraVe on that."

"If you want to go all mineral, CeraVe's Invisible Mineral SPF 50 is really nice. I don't know how they did it. They kept it so nice and lightweight despite being all mineral."

"This is their Invisible Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50. This uses a new type of zinc oxide that is more sheer on the skin. So this isn't tinted on me. It gives the tiniest white cast that really I don't have to put any makeup on over it. Of course if you have darker skin tone than me it's going to give you a little bit of white cast but is the best as far as not giving a white cast of any mineral sunscreen that's white that I've tried so far."

I Tried $500 Worth of NEW Mineral Sunscreens So YOU DON'T HAVE TO! SPF Showdown 2026
"This one leaves that tiniest little bit of white cast. It's better for more normal to combo to oily skin people. If you're a dry skin person, I'm not sure that you will absolutely love this. [...] I'm going to give it four out of five as a standalone sunscreen and for under foundation, a four out of five."

"And this is another zinc oxide sunscreen. It also has titanium dioxide. The cast on this is very impressive for a mineral formula. It's moisturizing, not the least bit greasy or shiny. And it also does not peel at all, which is wonderful. Sometimes mineral sunscreens, they get a little flaky, and when you try and put makeup on over them, they make a mess. Not the case with this whatsoever. It's got ceramides as do all of CeraVe's products."

Dermatologist Reviews CeraVe Invisible Mineral SPF 50 | No White Cast?
"And it's interesting because the cast on this for an SPF 50 mineral sunscreen is pretty impressive. Now I will point out, this is a mineral sunscreen, but if you read the inactive ingredients very carefully there is an ingredient on there that's kind of an SPF doping agent, or a booster as they're called. [...] Basically they're organic carbon compounds that absorb UV and dissipate that energy as heat, [...] the main difference being they're not FDA approved active sunscreen ingredients."

"This mineral sunscreen is probably one of the most invisible mineral sunscreens I've ever tried. I'm talking minimal to no white cast. When I started using it, it really reminded me of a certain bougie sunscreen that we all love. It is really giving that a run for its money. And this one is under $16. That's an incredible price. So, a very budget friendly, invisible mineral sunscreen."

"I personally don't like using the CeraVe SPF 50 sunscreen. Sometimes I use it on my body, but I definitely don't enjoy using it on my face because of how intense the white cast is."

"This zero Rom and I know this is good for mature skin based on what I'm seeing here I didn't see a lot of spread of oils in this so this kind of makes me point to this. What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Niacinamide

Niacinamide has evidence behind it for redness, uneven tone and supporting the skin barrier, and it is usually well tolerated even by skin that reacts to most things.

Source: DermNet

Sunscreen filters

Sun protection is the best evidenced way to slow visible ageing, and the filters are what does the work. Mineral and chemical filters both protect when a product is applied thickly enough and often enough, which is where most people fall short rather than on the choice of filter.

Ceramides

Ceramides are part of the skin's own barrier, and moisturisers built around them have evidence for holding water in and settling the tightness and flaking that come with a damaged barrier.
