What the gurus are saying

This cushion earns praise for its firm puff and buildable coverage that holds up in humidity and heat, making it a standout pick for oily and acne-prone skin. The powdery texture means it won't dry you out even in summer, though the nose area may need touch-ups as the day goes on. Those with similar or fairer skin tones find it especially worth trying.

"If you live somewhere tropical and humid and want something more long lasting, or you have oily, acne prone skin, [...] this is the one to go for, since it's targeting more for oily combo skin. I can feel more powder in it too."

"I love the puff because it's firm, it has high coverage and it's powdery, the more you add the more the coverage goes up, though you may feel the nose area doesn't stick well. I've never loved Clio because this brand is all about the Kill Cover line so you can expect high coverage from the name, but this product isn't too matte, it doesn't dry out in summer even for dry skin. If you have a similar or fairer skin color to me, I'd pick this one."

"I do have some of their cushion foundations, which obviously I can just fit. The shades just suit me. They're just always going to be slightly just too light. But I can get away with it. You know what I mean? I can always warm it up with a bronzer. I can always add contour, whatever."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Niacinamide

Niacinamide has evidence behind it for redness, uneven tone and supporting the skin barrier, and it is usually well tolerated even by skin that reacts to most things.

Sunscreen filters

Sun protection is the best evidenced way to slow visible ageing, and the filters are what does the work. Mineral and chemical filters both protect when a product is applied thickly enough and often enough, which is where most people fall short rather than on the choice of filter.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
