What the gurus are saying

This sunscreen spreads like a light lotion without greasiness or white cast, dries quickly despite having no drying alcohol, and reapplies cleanly without pilling. The fragrance is subtle and fades after application. However, it can sting around the eyes, so it works better as a body sunscreen than a facial one; those with sensitive eye areas may want to apply it carefully or skip the immediate eye zone.

"The Sport Sunscreen Lotion, $5.99, no white cast, very moisturizing, but it does kind of burn around the eyes. It's a great body sunscreen, but on the face it definitely burns in the eyes."

"The scent itself doesn't linger. It's really a very light smell of traditional sunscreen with a little bit of a pleasant clean smell to it. It's not super floral, it's not overpowering at all, and once you apply it you really don't smell it again at all. [...] I really enjoy the texture of this because it's a lighter lotion type of texture. Some sunscreens can have a really thick or greasy feel to them, almost like they sit on top of your skin and never really dry down or absorb."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Sunscreen filters

Sun protection is the best evidenced way to slow visible ageing, and the filters are what does the work. Mineral and chemical filters both protect when a product is applied thickly enough and often enough, which is where most people fall short rather than on the choice of filter.
