What the gurus are saying

This oat-and-coconut powder exfoliant stands out as Dermalogica's gentlest, most calming option, specifically designed for sensitive skin. When mixed, it becomes viscous due to beta glucans, creating a more hydrating and soothing effect than the brand's standard microfoliant. It's pricey, though catching it on sale is worthwhile; those with sensitized or drier skin may find it gentle enough for daily use.

"I've had my eye on this for a long time. For some reason I didn't know it was at Sephora. I thought it was only at Ulta and then when I found it on the site I was like, 'Wait, I'm adding that to my cart.'"

"The Daily Milkfoliant from Dermalogica is my favorite of all their cleansing powders. This particular one is the most gentle form, made with oats. It's expensive, so catching it for 50% off can actually be quite worth it. I think this is a good product."

ULTA Skincare Sale: ALL the 50% off Items in Week 1 - my thoughts!
"I do like it. I think Dermalogica is incredible at this category, powder exfoliants. They have multiple different types and this is my personal favorite. It's the version made for sensitive skin, they added calming oat extract, and it's just really gentle, and yet I feel like it does help with brightening. It almost smells fragrance-free, though it does have some fragrance ingredients in the formula, I just don't smell them."

"They also have a milk exfoliant which is extremely good especially if you have sensitive skin. If you're more so dry I would use the milk exfoliant by Dermalogica because that's more so gentle and it won't dry you out as bad. I highly recommend using an exfoliant especially if you suffer from ingrowns."

Your Guide to the Sephora Sale For Each Skin Concern: Acne, Sensitivity, Anti Aging
"This has even more beta glucans, and when you actually whip these up next to each other, it actually feels much more hydrating and calming than the microfoliant does. I love this so much for my skin. But for those who are redness-prone and looking for exfoliation who are more sensitive, the Daily Milk Foliant is going to be the best bet. This is an oat-based powder exfoliant, but it also has corn, rice, and coconut—super soothing, super gentle."
Dry Skin & Acne Skincare Routine 🌵
"If you do have sensitized skin or drier skin types, this is what you should absolutely go for. This is still an exfoliant, and if you really really really have dry skin that's flaking off, you could use this daily underneath a sunscreen. This one lends itself well to daily exfoliation for dry skin."

"This is a vegan formula made with coconut milk and oats. I have tried it a couple of times and I am so excited for this launch for summer. [...] I love it so far. I think this is really good for sensitized skin. They [...] changed their cap to a much nicer kind of updated cap, which is good if you want to keep it in your bathroom."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
