What the gurus are saying

The price tag draws sharp criticism, with experts calling the $300+ cost hard to justify for what's inside. While one reviewer appreciated the luxurious feel, another found the formula heavy-handed on fragrance and light on potency, pointing out that niacinamide serums with stronger actives cost far less. Most gurus say this one skips the value proposition.

"This is not going to work on your dark spots or pigmentation, it's just hydration, hydration, hydration. But hydration at 177,000 Indian rupees, or well over $300, can be a little crazy."

"If you're going to spend 300 and something dollars on a serum and then 400 on your moisturizer, proper application is probably important. If you want to get the full benefits of your serum, you definitely apply it before your moisturizer just so it really penetrates your skin. [...] You're probably still going to get some benefits from it if you put serum on top of your moisturizer, but if you're going to spend that much, proper application is probably a good idea."
~Nay
"This is an eighty-five dollar intense serum. [...] I do like to see niacinamide in this one, but similar to all the other Dior products, it's a bunch of fragrance and basic ingredients. If you want a really good niacinamide-based product, use any of these alternatives, they'll arguably be more potent and better for you, less fragrance, and way less expensive than this. The answer is absolutely not."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Vitamin C

Topical vitamin C is an antioxidant with reasonable evidence for dullness and uneven tone. It breaks down in light and air, so how a product is formulated and packaged matters as much as the percentage on the front.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
