What the gurus are saying

This blush splits reviewers sharply. Fans praise how a bright bubblegum-pink pan transforms into a subtle, wearable flush on skin, with just enough sheen to read as a natural glow without needing highlighter, and they love that you can layer it for more intensity. However, some gurus find the pigment surprisingly faint, one reviewer who tested both the original and reformulated versions calls the new version less pigmented than before and questions why Dior dialed it back. The shade range also draws criticism for lacking inclusivity. Most fans who gravitate to it rave about the finish, though price and shallow pan depth give pause to skeptics at the thirty-four-dollar mark.

"Love their blush, their cream blush, not their powder blush."

"Dior kind of went viral with that chalky blush because everyone was like, oh, it's what Kylie Jenner's makeup artist uses on Kylie Jenner. And it turns out it actually wasn't or something. I can't remember. It was terrible. It was the worst blush I think I've ever used, ever."

"I like to go in with some more blush, which is what I'm doing now. This is the Dior Backstage Rosy Glow Blush. This is something important as a part of giving you that really really healthy glow."

"I'm going to use my Dior Backstage Rosy Glow Blush. This is such a beautiful blush, so easy to apply. You'd think that because it's so hot bubblegum pink in here that it would look really too much on the skin, but it doesn't. It really just goes on so perfectly. It does have the slightest bit of a sheen to it, so you don't 100% have to use a highlighter with it."

"This is the most beautiful blush, so quick and easy to put on. [...] It looks a little scary in the pan because it looks so bubblegum pink, but it doesn't go on bubblegum pink. You can actually rub your brush in there and you don't have to worry about applying too much of it. It's always really super subtle and super beautiful. It's the most beautiful blush. They just released more colors in it so I'm going to have to pick up some more."

"The powder blush that I've really been loving is the Dior Backstage Rosy Glow. This one's so pretty. If you want more of a blush look, you can just pop this on over the top and it just really kind of amps up the blush right on the front. You can see it's like really bubble gum pink in here, but it doesn't go on super bubble gum pink, so it's really amazing. I love that one too."

"The Dior Backstage Rosy Glow, one of my favorite Contour Products of the year was actually the same blush but not in the peach shade it was in the shade Quartz Glow. So this would be a blush on some but on me it was a contour and I would just use this around my hairline to define the cheeks and everything."

"The runner-up to that is this Dior blush. This is the Backstage Rosy Glow in pink. I was kind of shocked at the color of this when I first saw it. I was like yikes, that is gonna be bubble gummy. But look at it. It doesn't come off bubble gummy on your skin. It is just so beautiful. It does have a little bit of a sheen to it, not glittery, just a gorgeous gorgeous subtle blush."

"I tried this Dior Backstage blush in Rosy Glow this year and it's beautiful and I love it so much and I think it's kind of replaced my holy grail blush. [...] I still love and recommend the Rare Beauty blush, [...] but I've been reaching for this and using this so much lately that the Rare Beauty just didn't give me the same pop of color. [...] When I first got it, it kind of scared me because it's so bubble gum pink, but it doesn't come off on your skin bubble gum pink like that."

"This just looked like the most beautiful bubble gum pink kind of color. It goes on beautifully and it's nice and subtle. The blush is holding up really well. The blush is long wearing, really pretty on the skin, and look how much that is still on there after eight hours."

"I've been using it non-stop since I got it. It looks really kind of intimidating, bubble gum pink in the package, and the reason I love it is because it doesn't look bubble gum pink on your skin. I think it's supposed to have a little bit of color-changing technology to it and it just goes on as the most beautiful peachy pink, which it certainly doesn't look like it would be peachy pink in here but it does. It's so sheer. At 40 dollars for this little thing of blush though, ouch, it hurts."
Faves + Fails | BEST & WORST Products I Tried | November 2022!
"This is the Dior Backstage Rosy Glow Blush in pink. The color is [...] so scary bubble gum pink but you put it on and it just gives you the most beautiful flush of color. It's not that it changes color but it doesn't come off on your skin like this hot pink and it seems to have just the best little bit of sheen to it so that you don't really need to wear a highlighter with it. I don't have highlighter on, this is just the blush. I think it's just gorgeous."

"I really love these products and what I like about this blush is that you can build this up so when you first put it on it's very subtle. I could see where they get the Rosy Glow name from. This doesn't have that flat finish that typical matte powder blushes will have. The glow you're gonna get with this is more of a radiant as opposed to a lot of shimmer. If you do want to intensify the color you just add a couple more layers and you're good to go."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Sunscreen filters

Sun protection is the best evidenced way to slow visible ageing, and the filters are what does the work. Mineral and chemical filters both protect when a product is applied thickly enough and often enough, which is where most people fall short rather than on the choice of filter.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
