What the gurus are saying

This serum delivers visible brightening on dark spots and post-acne marks, with discoloration fading within a week and a half of twice-daily use. The lightweight formula combines multiple vitamin C forms with niacinamide, tranexamic acid, and alpha arbutin (all address discoloration), plus ceramides and hydration. Testers found it layers seamlessly, though some would prefer traditional ascorbic acid vitamin C and might use it as a supporting treatment rather than standalone.

"I have been using this consistently in my morning routine since last year. It's really good and I've gone through so many bottles of this already, I'm almost done this one and I have a backup ready to go. It's a vitamin C derivative formulation, more gentle with a longer shelf life, and it does have ascorbic acid but further down the ingredient list so it's very gentle. There's also niacinamide, tranexamic acid, and alpha arbutin in here, plus centella asiatica, beta glucan, and hyaluronic acid, so it's calming and hydrating but very brightening at the same time. It's very thin like water, absorbs nicely, no sticky or tacky feel, and no fragrance. This on its own is brightening and I really love how effective this is, it's my go-to vitamin C in my morning routine."

IF I LOST MY ENTIRE SKINCARE COLLECTION... THESE ARE THE 11 PRODUCTS I'D REPURCHASE FIRST!
"This serum is one of the most brightening serums I have ever used. It will help to brighten your skin, fade post-acne marks, dark spots, and discoloration. [...] This is also going to help with fine lines and help stimulate new collagen as well. There are ceramides in here and hyaluronic acid, so great ingredients to hydrate the skin and to keep your skin barrier nice and strong. The consistency of this is very thin like water. It's not sticky or greasy. It doesn't pill with skin care. You could use this twice a day, but I just use this in my morning skin care routine. [...] This would be the first serum that I would pick up."
THIS MORNING SKINCARE ROUTINE CHANGED MY SKIN - BEST ANTI-AGING SKINCARE OVER 30
"Within a couple of weeks those areas are dramatically faded and I have more of that even skin tone, but also my skin just looks a lot brighter as well when I am consistent with this every single day. I always use vitamin C in my morning routine because it also helps to protect your skin from pollution. But I just really love this serum for that overall brightness. It is truly ten out of ten. This brand is awesome, but this serum really is lovely as well. I'm almost finished and I do have another one ready to go in my linen closet."
BEST KOREAN SKINCARE TRIO FOR ANTI-AGING AND GLOWING SKIN
"This is the Vitamin C Boosting Serum. I've been using this since late summer, early fall of last year. [...] This is my third bottle, [...] and I have a fourth bottle all ready to go once this is finished. This has been one of my go-to vitamin C's as of late, and I've been using this for over 6 months. I think this is one of the best vitamin C formulations on the market. This is a vitamin C derivative formulation. [...] Vitamin C [...] is a great ingredient to brighten the skin, fade discoloration, and protect the skin from pollution. Besides the vitamin C in here, there are other amazing ingredients like niacinamide, tranexamic acid, and alpha arbutin. These three are tyrosinase inhibitors which help to block the overproduction of pigment in the skin. [...] I love how those three ingredients are in here along with the ethyl ascorbic acid vitamin C derivative."

"This is the Dr. Althea Vitamin C Boosting Serum. It's very impressive and very brightening. So if you are struggling with that uneven skin tone or let's say you have a dull complexion, this actually does work and it works pretty quickly, especially if you're using this twice a day. When I first started using this, I did have a few post acne marks on my cheeks, and I thought, let's use this twice a day and let's see how quickly this can perform and fade those post acne marks. And I would say within a week and a half, almost 2 weeks, those post acne marks were pretty much diminished. I [...] found this so brightening and gentle. It's also hydrating. And I also believe that this does a really good job to help with texture, keeping the skin super soft and smooth. This does contain a vitamin C derivative. There's also tranexamic acid in here, alpha arbutin, which are great ingredients to also brighten the skin. And I like how thin and lightweight this is. [...] I do have another one in my bathroom already going."
21 BEAUTY PRODUCTS I'VE USED UP | BEAUTY EMPTIES 2026 - SKINCARE, MAKEUP & HAIRCARE - PROJECT PAN
"This is the vitamin C serum I've been very consistent with over the last seven months, [...] maybe even longer, and I've gone through several bottles of it. It's K beauty and it actually contains [...] ascorbic acid, [...] the most direct form of vitamin C, though it's further down the ingredient list. It's very gentle and very brightening, so if you have post acne marks, dullness, or discoloration, using it every day you'll notice your skin appear brighter. It's thin and lightweight but also [...] hydrating. [...] I can't say anything negative about this. [...] I actually took a break from ascorbic acid for a while [...] and my skin freaked out when I stopped, so I'm back using vitamin C derivatives again and this is just my go-to. [...] It also has niacinamide and tranexamic acid, which are tyrosinase inhibitors that help brighten the skin and fade discoloration. [...] This is 10 out of 10, it is really good."

"This uses hippophae rhamnoides water extract as a source of vitamin C and antioxidants. I much prefer a straightforward vitamin C using ascorbic acid as the source of the antioxidant, dark spot, and other benefits you get from vitamin C. But this is a good source of antioxidants for you. It's a good serum, it lays nicely on the skin, easy to incorporate. But for me, I prefer more traditional vitamin C. It's not your traditional vitamin C, or the only vitamin C you'd want to use in your skincare routine, but a great product for just that antioxidant benefit, calming and soothing benefits."
