What the gurus are saying

The device earns respect for its clinical-grade quality and long-standing reputation, with some gurus spotting visible improvements in skin texture and firmness after just a couple of treatments. However, the small cartridge head means the process demands stamping rather than rolling motions, which can stretch a full facial treatment to an hour or more and leaves some people finding it uncomfortably time-intensive to use regularly. The disposable cartridges are a genuine safety win for anyone microneedling at home, since the open channels created in skin are vulnerable to bacteria.

"There's no cord, which makes it convenient. [...] The needles are a little bit more affordable. But the first one died on me after a handful of uses. I will finish up my cartridges that I have left. [...] Would I repurchase it at this point? Probably not after it died on me so soon. This version [...] costs about two-thirds of what the Derminator did, so it still has its purpose and people will probably use it. But compared to the Derminator, the Dr. Pen doesn't feel as built to last."

"If you can only buy two devices at home to biohack the skin, the ones that move the needle the most, one of them is a professional Dr. Pen micro needling device. [...] Those two devices can take the place of a lot of the other stuff you're buying."

"I have a doctor pen. The Dr. Pen is the more professional one that I do at home."

"The head of the Dr. Pen that I'm using for this is slightly bigger in circumference when the needles are on here and it's going outside of that line so I'm going to try to see if I can get a thinner device to do that, but on the circle ones I can already tell a difference with how raised they are and also how white they are. So I'm getting a little bit of results, again it's only my second treatment."

"I got my 16 gauge pen and my Microneedling Device. It's been so long since I microneedled. I was getting all my stuff set up and couldn't find the charger for my Dr Pen, so it does charge, but hopefully it stays charged and I'm going to get busy here."

"My favorite is the Dr. Pen and the reason why I like this is because it has sterile needles. What microneedling does is it creates perforations in your skin with these needles. There's a whole protocol on it [...] with safety first, and then I go and show you what the needle depths are that you can start out with on each body part because our skin is different in each section. I wouldn't do the same depth on my cheek that I would do on my eyelid right, it's different skin."

"I was using the Dr. Pen for a while and I found it more painful, it just seemed to hurt more. My skin seemed way more irritated and it took me longer to heal, even though I was using the same 0.5 needle length, maybe I was just going too deep. [...] It used to come with an attached head that you had to throw out after a few uses, which is probably why I stopped using it."

Which Microneedling Device Is Best for You?
"The pain and the time were the deciding factors that stopped me from using it regularly. And that's a shame because I actually have a few Dr. Pens lying around not being used. When something takes too long or it feels too uncomfortable, my consistency drops. It's just harder for me to find the time. Consistency matters way more than perfection."
✨ Microneedling at Home for Glowing Skin | Anti-Aging Skincare That Works! ✨
"They're the gold standard. In fact they're used in many clinics. One of the best things about this is that these cartridges are disposable. You use it and you throw it away because when you're doing medical microneedling you're creating open channels in your skin which are hugely vulnerable to germs. So sterilization is absolutely critical. You don't want to reuse contaminated tools. By using a clean cartridge every time you're reducing the risk."
