What the gurus are saying

The texture divides reviewers: one finds it too heavy and balm-like even for dry skin, while another praises its thickness, lovely feel, and how nicely it dries down with shea butter. One rates it an eight out of ten. Since just a couple of gurus have weighed in so far, there is not much consensus to go on yet.

"The Dermatology retinol cream is fairly thick, it has a lovely texture and it contains shea butter which is one of my favorite body butters. It also dries down really nicely and just leaves your skin soft and silky. Another ingredient I want to call out is caffeine, which has been used in skincare for years and is supposed to help with blood circulation to decrease puffiness. How much it actually helps with anti-aging body care I can't say, but I did want to mention that it's in here."

"I've tried their 0.5 retinol. I personally didn't like the texture of that formula. Even with my dry skin it has kind of a balm texture to it, so it just wasn't my favorite formula. [...] I prefer mine to just soak into my skin and have more of a creamy formula to it. So it's just personal preference."

"Retinol can really help to improve texture and tone, it can really help with that uneven skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles, and of course acne. I'm going to rate this an eight out of 10."
