What the gurus are saying

This scrub earns consistent praise for its gritty-but-gentle texture and dual exfoliation approach. Dermatologists and reviewers highlight how the combination of chemical and physical buffing smooths rough skin and helps prevent ingrown hairs, though several note the formula is intense and works best with consistent weekly use rather than occasional heavy applications. A few found it too harsh for sensitive skin or felt other scrubs offered slightly better results, and one cautions against using it on the face despite its gentleness for the body.

"It's the First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser, the body scrub that contains 10% AHA, glycolic and lactic acid, so it has a nice grit to it, like a pumice. I really love this for my chest specifically because sometimes in the summer I get a little bit of roughness there, and [...] if you self tan and still have some self tanner lingering on your body, this on its own does a really good job of getting rid of that. It just sloughs everything off and gives a really nice smooth canvas to the skin."

"I've been using the KP Bump Eraser by First Aid Beauty so this is a body scrub but I also use this on my hands as well. Make sure your hands are wet, just put the littlest amount of this onto your hands and then just gently go in circular motions all over, and then I will do that for probably a couple of minutes and then once that's done I will leave it on my hands for a couple of minutes to allow those AHAs to do its thing and then I rinse off with cold water."

"I've been struggling with keratosis pilaris on the upper arms for 3 years now. I've been to two dermatologists and they both basically said my current regimen is the proper way to treat it, but it doesn't really seem to help. Currently, I use the First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser Body Scrub with 10% AHA one to two times a week due to it being a much harsher scrub."

"It's not advertised that way, but that product in my opinion works just as well, if not better than the KP body scrub from [...] First Aid Beauty that's so popular."

"The one that I have repurchased the most by far is the KP Bump Eraser from First Aid Beauty. Although they market this for KP, which is keratosis pilaris, sort of the chicken skin that people can get on their upper arms or on their thighs and buttocks, I use this on my skin everywhere. I think the reason I keep going back to this one so much is that the grit in there is just so particular. It's very gritty, but it's not sharp. So I get a lot of incredible buffing when I use it."

"My favorite is probably the First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser. It's got some alpha hydroxy acids in there in addition to the physical exfoliation, but I find that it just makes my skin and my booty so smooth and it prevents ingrown hairs like that has been tried and true for me for so many years."

"The one that I reach for over and over and over again because it makes my skin so smooth is the First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser. It's got a good sized solid grit to it but the grit isn't sharp. I've found in other body exfoliants sometimes the little particles themselves are sharp like I've cut myself on them before, and it also has alpha hydroxy acids in it which is chemical exfoliation so you're getting a dual action exfoliation, the physical and the chemical."
Dermatologist Explains Keratosis Pilaris (KP): Affordable Drugstore Treatments to Try!
"I find that my teens tend to be more adherent with this KP product than anything else, and I think it's partially because they like that physical exfoliation. They feel like they're really doing something, and they are. [...] If you're using a physical exfoliation like a scrub as part of your KP treatment method, it is super important to follow that up with a good body moisturizer."

"First Aid Beauty, also a Sephora brand. I am a fan of a lot of their products. They make great products that are targeted toward keratosis pilaris, which is an issue we see a lot in the derm practice. So, I do recommend First Aid Beauty products often to my patients. I also love their ingrown hair peel pads, which is great for people with ingrown hair. So, use alongside a retinoid. I'm also a big fan of their radiance peel pads."

"First Aid Beauty sent me their KP body eraser bump scrub. [...] It's not that bad. Compared to my favorite from Kopari, this feels slightly under that [...] in terms of physical exfoliation, [...] but it's still really good. It has ten percent AHA, which I use on my body exclusively since AHA is too much for my face."

"That's a really nice body scrub, I have not tried this particular scent, I guess peach, but I do like the scrub. I do like the Kopari scrub a little more, but if I was making a points haul I would still consider getting the First Aid Beauty."

"This combines both chemical and physical exfoliation for a gentle but effective formula. If you're looking for a formula that's going to chemically dissolve keratin but also gently buff out that top of the skin, this is a good one to try. It combines physical and chemical exfoliation to smooth that rough bumpy skin. It uses glycolic and lactic acid at a combined level of 10% AHA to dissolve the keratin plug while those fine pumice beads provide gentle physical exfoliation."

"The KP Bump Eraser from First Aid Beauty is really densely loaded with pumice, has a toothpaste sort of texture, and is just really thick and really intense as a scrub. [...] I have a very low tolerance when it comes to beauty products, so this one is actually borderline too much for me. [...] My biggest tip here for KP is that you do need to really be consistent with exfoliating. You can't just try to overload yourself on one day and then hope that that will last for two weeks."
~Nay
"The scrubbies in it, [...] it's just a little too harsh for my skin. It's very easy to overdo it and end up actually scratching yourself, especially in more sensitive areas like around your underarms. And it's less of a cream sort of formula, so it balls up and falls off the skin pretty easily. It has 10% AHA, it's fine, but it's not my first choice. I much prefer the Narium one."

Um I'm sorry but I'm obsessed with these
"I had been using that forever. I don't really get KP bumps, I get a little bit sometimes like right here on my arm, very annoying, but when I use that scrub we get nothing, skin nice and exfoliated and healthy. I usually use it like one or two times a week. [...] The First Aid Beauty one is a little bit more gritty, it's like kind of a gray color, a little bit more gritty. It [...] kind of breaks up a little bit which I don't love."

"It has pumice buffing beads, it's borderline physical. Your body can tolerate this but never your face. Some people might think it's a great dupe to use as a physical exfoliant for the face, but the reality is you do not want to do that, especially if you are prone to breakouts on your face, because your face is more sensitive and you'll get micro tears and you'll make the breakouts more inflamed and you'll get worsening of your scars."

"First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser Body Scrub [...] with 10% Alpha hydroxy acids, which are basically glycolic acid or lactic acid. [...] This one feels like sand at the beach. I would not use this on your face at all because you do not want to get micro tears that can lead to furthering worsening of your inflammation, but on the body our skin is much thicker and able to tolerate it."

"This product is actually really nice and I'm recommending it because it's more gentle compared to some of the other scrubs that I have used or have seen in the past. It's marketed for helping with body bumps, keratosis pilaris, and in general, [...] if you use this regularly by removing and scrubbing away the dead skin buildup it can help because dead skin is what clogs up the hair follicles and leads to those bumps."
~Mixed
"I like the First Aid Beauty one too, I think it's First Aid Beauty, the popular one for KP, but sometimes it just feels like it hurts a little bit."
~Mixed
"The specific percentage of each of these is not listed, though the package says it's a combined 10 percent. This is not super helpful; I'd prefer the breakdown listed instead. It does contain a longer list of ingredients with added extracts aimed to soothe and nourish the skin, and people really seem to love this product in general. However, I am not overly impressed with this particular ingredients list."
~Yay
"For a body care treat I'm going in for the First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser Body Scrub. This uses glycolic and lactic acid at 10% to help exfoliate the skin, but it also has some scrubbies in it which is great for my rough elbows and knees."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Alpha hydroxy acids

Alpha hydroxy acids loosen the bonds holding dead cells at the surface. The evidence supports smoother texture and more even tone over time, and they can leave skin more sensitive to sun.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
