What the gurus are saying

This balm left lips dry, peeled and even bleeding in winter conditions, particularly problematic for those with already-parched skin. Dermatologists who work with skin of color flag a critical concern: the formula appears to copy Western lip-balm standards without accounting for the different sensitivities of deeper skin tones, and the inclusion of fragrance and potential irritants makes it risky for anyone with reactive lips. Not recommended.

"I was one of the very first few people who actually purchase this product launch back in 2023 in the winter months. I tried it and literally my lips were peeling. [...] I don't like the lip balms and that is why it is in my no recommendation list."

"My lips are already dry, skin is dry, and my lips started peeling and were like ruined. My lips were bleeding [...] after using this lip balm. I'm very patient, but then I realized it's not me, it's not Delhi, it's not winter, it's a product problem. I don't know what they've put into it, but this deserves to go into trash. [...] This is actually the worst lip balm that I've tried. [...] Just because something is affordable doesn't mean it's nice."

"When you're formulating for lip products for skin of color, you have to be very, very careful. You do not do a copy-paste situation of what's happening in the west. What you can get away with on Caucasian skin, you cannot get away with for skin of color. We have to be more careful. We have to avoid all fragrance in our lip products and all irritant in our lip products, and for this reason, this product is a no."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.

Peptides

Peptides are short protein fragments meant to signal repair. The evidence for them is thinner than for retinoids or vitamin C, and it varies a lot by the specific peptide, so the category is more promising than proven.
