What the gurus are saying

The rose note stands out prominently in this people-pleasing fragrance, even in lighter formulations, and it earns enough compliments to show why the broad appeal works for many people. However, it's not everyone's personal preference, and the scent profile can trigger headaches in some people sensitive to the florals. That's the kind of tradeoff built into a fragrance engineered to be a people-pleaser.

"I always get compliments when I wear Lancome fragrances, and Idole has gotten me some compliments too. I feel like Lancome is incredibly good at people pleasing scents, and yet they aren't my personal favorites. This one has some jasmine which I really like, and some rose in it which I don't really like, and I can definitely smell the rose even in the aura version, so I'm going to skip it in this sale. But it's one where I see why people buy it, it's a people pleaser."

"I know better than to sample a perfume before getting on a flight. One of these Idôle fragrances, I did not care for, because it had a certain scent that always gives me a bad headache."

"Some Lancôme perfumes will instantly make me feel nauseated and give me a headache, and [...] they linger inescapably. I recently had the opportunity to smell that perfume and I was like, oh no, that is one of those perfumes."
