What the gurus are saying

This mineral sunscreen surprises with a lightweight, moisturizing feel that defies the usual drying, powdery texture of mineral formulas. The standout is its centella complex (seven different extracts plus fermented yeast at one percent concentration) paired with niacinamide and hyaluronic acid for soothing and hydration. Gurus praise how easy it is to reapply without feeling greasy, making it ideal for everyday wear, especially under makeup or for sensitive, irritated skin.

"There are only three that stand out to me, the rest will just be listed under nice"

"The differences are mostly with the skincare ingredients as well as a light slightly floral fragrance that goes away pretty quickly after you apply it. It's been tested to be hypoallergenic and like the Beauty of Joseon sunscreen, it's formulated to work really well under makeup as an everyday commuter sunscreen. [...] This one focuses on centella, which [...] is great for soothing sensitive skin. I love using centella products when my skin is irritated and needs a bit of nourishment."

"We also have niacinamide and hyaluronic acid, and you can feel that it's hydrating. It's confusing because I was expecting something completely different, but it honestly just feels like a very nice moisturizer. Reapplication is very easy; it doesn't feel bogged down or greasy. While these are one of those brands that market themselves on being non-toxic and EWG-approved, which I don't usually opt for, [...] this is such a nice sunscreen that I'm willing to see past that."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Sunscreen filters

Sun protection is the best evidenced way to slow visible ageing, and the filters are what does the work. Mineral and chemical filters both protect when a product is applied thickly enough and often enough, which is where most people fall short rather than on the choice of filter.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.

Cheaper alternatives the gurus rate.

Lower-priced sunscreens the gurus still rate highly, versus this mid-range pick.
