What the gurus are saying

The texture is unusually oily for a vitamin C serum, which puts off those who prefer a lighter feel but may suit people with dry skin who want extra slip. The formula itself tracks very close to more affordable dupes like The Ordinary and Geek and Gorgeous, raising questions about whether the price tag reflects genuine innovation or ingredient sourcing rather than a meaningfully different product. Not many gurus have weighed in yet, so the full picture of how it performs is still taking shape.

"This is L-ascorbic acid but it's not liquidy, it's like it feels very oily. [...] This is getting wiped off, this is not making it to my face. It's just a texture I don't enjoy. It's just too oily for me. But if you have dry skin this is going to fall into the category similar to the Neutrogena one, where it might sit well with you. A lot of people won't like this formula. [...] It is L-ascorbic acid but it really has that oily texture to it."

"In my opinion, this brand is just a crystal clear money grab. Paul claims to have spent his time working on making ingredients, specifically mentioned vitamin C, more efficacy and more efficient, as if SkinCeuticals and a hundred thousand million other brands and companies haven't spent time on this. Looking at his Vitamin C formula, it looks very similar to the Ordinary. If you search for dupes for it, the Geek and Gorgeous C Glow is a very close dupe to it. It costs 92 dollars."

"However, their stability claims aren't backed up by the [...] evidence. [...] They tested [...] against just three products, only one of which was in the same category as theirs, which doesn't tell you that your product is the best out of all the thousands of products out there. [...] As a chemist, it seems incredibly unlikely that ascorbic acid dissolved in propane diol can compete with silicone-based products that have much better stability properties."
