What the gurus are saying

Ask these reviewers about the sheet and the complaints stack up: it tears when you apply it and turns see-through around forty to fifty minutes in. Hydration is there after peeling it off but fades fast, the scent is strong, and at $67 the cooling feel is gone in about thirty minutes. Some say it soaks up product and leaves skin drier, and the Anua mask gets the nod over it.

"The Medicube PDRN Pink Collagen Gel Mask is a no. Even compared to other collagen gel masks, this one seems to just suck up all of my product and leave my skin dry rather than moisturized."

"This mask says you can wear it up to three hours, but you cannot actually do that because the sheet is even thinner than the other one I compared it to, and it becomes transparent super quickly, after about forty or fifty minutes. This kind of jet mask does feel super cooling, but that wears off after about thirty minutes and it is expensive for how little effect it actually has."

"The Medicube collagen gel mask doesn't paste onto your face well. It comes as a separate upper and lower piece and it tears when you try to apply it, and at sixty seven US dollars it's not cheap, it's worse than a one or two dollar sheet mask. After taking it off I could feel some hydration, but the scent is kind of strong and it doesn't last very long. I'd rather just get a dollar sheet mask and use it for fifteen minutes. I just don't like it, it's something burdensome you won't end up using."

"This is nice. It's hydrating but it's not the best. I prefer the Anua mask. Also the Medicube one. But that mask is also a really hydrating mask"

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Vitamin C

Topical vitamin C is an antioxidant with reasonable evidence for dullness and uneven tone. It breaks down in light and air, so how a product is formulated and packaged matters as much as the percentage on the front.

Source: DermNet

Niacinamide

Niacinamide has evidence behind it for redness, uneven tone and supporting the skin barrier, and it is usually well tolerated even by skin that reacts to most things.

Source: DermNet

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
