What the gurus are saying

Wear time is the deciding factor: the formula creases and settles into the eye crease within just a couple of hours without primer, making it a tough call for minimalist makeup wear. Others raved about the smooth blending and pretty color selection, though. The cream base also underperformed when used underneath other eyeshadows. Patch-test first to check longevity on your own lids.

"It had moved and settled into my eye crease within a couple of hours of putting it on and it really didn't last throughout the day. I loved the color of this though, it is beautiful, but I think with this you do need to lay down a primer first, which I don't think you should have to do since it is minimalist makeup."

"I love the Merit cream eyeshadows and I did end up buying two shades. I had this gray shade called Nelson which I did end up picking up and then the other one was a green but I kind of pivoted last minute. Here's Nelson that's like a really pretty smokey gray color. I wanted the green initially but then as I was checking out I saw the blue and I don't know what came over me but I got the blue instead of the green. It's like a pretty deep navy. Look how pretty that is."

"I went in with one of the Merit cream eyeshadow bases, Ventura, and that's kind of what ended up making me hate the look and stop filming. I like the product, it blends nicely, it's cool and everything, but it just didn't work super well as a base underneath what I was doing."

"I came in with the cream shadow from Merit midcentury and then this is also another K beauty makeup win from one of the Advent calendars."

"I've been most happy with their cream eyeshadows, but I've been most happy with the darkest eyeshadow color that they have. I use it as a liner and it's so nice because it's really easy to apply. They have this little brush with two heads, so one head you can use to blend in your eyeshadow, but the other tip is nice for applying this as an eyeliner and it helps you smoke it out."
