What the gurus are saying

This balm delivers a smooth, reflective shine thanks to its synthetic emollients and propylene glycol dicaprylate, which create that luxury feel without silicone. One reviewer praises its fragrance-free formula and suggests layering it as a final step after moisturizer to help brighten the lip area and protect against irritation. However, while another expert found it gives a glass-skin glow and works beautifully on other skin areas too, she notes it doesn't crack her personal top five, so it lands as a solid choice rather than a standout.

"This is the Vegan Melting Lip Balm. We've got propylene glycol dicaprylate which is basically a synthetic ingredient that's used like a silicone replacement. It gives you that sort of smooth luxury feeling. It's also got a high reflective quality which I think would even work as your highlighter on your cheekbones as well as on your lips. So you get that shine and it's full of emollients which are basically your skin conditioners."

"That's the best way I could describe this is like a stick lip oil. It [...] goes on like a stick so it's really easy to control, really easy to apply, but when you have it on it melts down into like this butter consistency and it's not a greasy butter, it's not an overwhelming butter."

Is This The Ordinary Of Korea?! I Tried Minimalist Bean Based Skincare From MIXSOON on STYLE KOREAN
"This formula has shea butter, it has sunflowers, it has a bunch of plant-based waxes, it has no fragrance or colors. [...] I absolutely use this on other areas of my skin now. They do have a tinted version as well if you want a little tint. [...] If you're looking for a vegan melting K Beauty lip balm, look at this, it gives my lips the K Beauty glass skin glow, this is fantastic, and it doesn't taste funky. But I wouldn't say it's in like my top five based on my experience."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Sunscreen filters

Sun protection is the best evidenced way to slow visible ageing, and the filters are what does the work. Mineral and chemical filters both protect when a product is applied thickly enough and often enough, which is where most people fall short rather than on the choice of filter.
