What the gurus are saying

This serum splits gurus sharply: some praise its silky texture and appreciate the peptides and niacinamide for sensitive skin, including on the neck, but others find it functions more as a gentle niacinamide serum than a collagen treatment, and at least one expert does not recommend it for deeper skin tones. The pleasant feel masks a mismatch between marketing and actual performance, so it works best if you want a lightweight hydrating serum rather than expecting robust collagen benefits.

"Instead, this is not one that I would recommend for skin of color. In addition, the hydrate and plump is coming just from the humectants. So you find humectants really in a lot of moisturizers. All moisturizers in fact contain humectants. If you want additional humectant in your skin, then you would purchase a serum that was say a hyaluronic acid serum in order to get that additional benefit. But for me, this one unfortunately is a no."

"It feels really nice on the skin and it absorbs pretty quickly, so you can use it in your morning and or evening routine after cleansing and toning but before other moisturizers or if you're going to use like a water-based serum, like a vitamin C serum I would use that before this. It really does have like a jelly texture, I can't get enough of the stuff. My neck absolutely loves it, which my neck is pretty sensitive. It feels super nice on skin, I really love the texture, it's like Jell-O."

"We've got collagen extract, grape extract, peptides, so very nice. I will say fragrance is the last ingredient in this product. I don't notice any scent whatsoever, and I didn't realize until I went to do my first impressions of this that it had fragrance in it. After testing it off and on, I don't notice any sense, so if you're very sensitive, keep that in mind, but I didn't notice it at all, so not going to complain."

"Number two was the Numbuzin number three or Numbuzin two it is the collagen pudding and I bought this excitedly because it has peptides but when I looked at this product its ingredients I used it I realized that basically this is a gentle niacinamide serum"

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Niacinamide

Niacinamide has evidence behind it for redness, uneven tone and supporting the skin barrier, and it is usually well tolerated even by skin that reacts to most things.

Urea

Urea both holds water in the skin and gently loosens dead surface cells. At higher strengths it has good evidence for very dry or thickened skin.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
