What the gurus are saying

This lightweight moisturizer hydrates while leaving skin looking mattified, which gurus appreciate for people wanting moisture without shine. The texture feels nice and refreshing on skin. Since only a couple of gurus have weighed in so far, there's not a ton of data yet, but what's there points to solid performance for oily or combination skin types.

"I just got one in the mail from Peach Slices and it's so good. It's a moisturizer that hydrates the skin but leaves you looking more mattified. Peach Slices is actually owned by Peach and Lily, so if you want less expensive Peach and Lily products, Peach Slices is basically your brand. They're like a little sister brand."

"It feels really nice on your skin and hydrating. It sets to a natural finish. The one thing I will say is it's not super mattifying. The [...] pros of this one are it contains several forms of hyaluronic acid as well as green tea, a great antioxidant skin soothing ingredient, aloe, zinc PCA which you will see in a lot of acne products. Zinc PCA is great for helping with oil production and things like that, and it also has several ceramides in here and it's also fragrance free."

"I'm gonna apply a little bit of moisturizer, Peach Slices oil control. I don't really have that issue so much but I just love trying new things. It's got zinc PCA, niacinamide, pine bark, strawberry fruit, mushroom."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Niacinamide

Niacinamide has evidence behind it for redness, uneven tone and supporting the skin barrier, and it is usually well tolerated even by skin that reacts to most things.

Ceramides

Ceramides are part of the skin's own barrier, and moisturisers built around them have evidence for holding water in and settling the tightness and flaking that come with a damaged barrier.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
