What the gurus are saying

This rich, buttery cream earns consistent praise for its ability to restore the skin barrier and deeply hydrate dry skin, thanks to its patented lipid complex (ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids in an optimized ratio) and peptide blend that support cell regeneration and repair. Most gurus love the texture and results, though several note it is best suited to winter or colder months, as it may feel too heavy for year-round or summer use. The price point draws mixed feelings, and those already using retinoids or exfoliants will find it pairs well as a nourishing buffer.

"The next product I highly recommend is the SkinFix Barrier+ Triple Lipid & Peptide Cream. This is a great one if you have dry, sensitive skin, or for the winter. Honestly, this is one of my go-to facial moisturizers to use in the wintertime. Ingredient wise, it has their patented 3% triple lipid complex, which is a blend of lipids that helps to restore the ceramides and fatty acids that are naturally present in our skin but often deficient in the winter or for those who have dry skin. In addition, it also contains a peptide blend that helps to calm and soothe the skin and offers additional support for our skin barrier, along with other great humectants. It's just all around a very nourishing, creamy moisturizer that is, like I said, a must have for the wintertime, especially if you have dry skin. I also love the fact that this is vegan, cruelty free, and also refillable, so there's less waste. You can also find this in a mini size for about $35, along with a few other bestsellers."

"If you want something a little bit more luxurious, like the thickest, heaviest cream that I have ever used, I definitely recommend my tried and true favorite, the Skinfix Barrier+ Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream. This one is everything La Mer wishes it was, such a rich, deeply nourishing moisturizer that is incredible for anyone who has sensitive, eczema-prone skin, and definitely ideal for anyone who's on their tretinoin journey."

"The SkinFix Barrier+ Triple Lipid + Peptide Cream is packed with ceramides, peptides, and humectants like hyaluronic acid and glycerin. It also has red algae for extra help with locking in moisture. I really love its rich, buttery texture. It feels super nourishing on my skin. It is often spoken of as a dupe for the Skin Sudicles triple lipid restore."

"I am actually obsessed with it because it reminds me a lot of another really awesome and rich thick moisturizer for winter but without the hefty price tag. I also like that there's a lot of science behind it. This contains the 3.5% patented BL3 barrier lipid complex, which contains biomimetic lipids meaning ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids in the optimized golden ratio that helps your skin barrier stay really strong and hydrated. It also has vitamin B9 folic acid and vitamin E and signal peptides for skin cell regeneration, wound healing, and repair of cells. BL3 was found to improve barrier contents of ceramides and lipids as well as natural moisturizing factors and aquaporin three levels in the skin. Aquaporins are channels in your cell membrane that help facilitate water entry and movement in and out of cells, so it helps you maintain more hydrated skin and a better and more functional skin barrier. I really like the texture of this. It goes on really thick."

Dermatologist Guide to Sephora Sale | What I’m Buying!
"It is pretty thick. There's no smell so this is not likely to cause allergic reactions if you're sensitive to fragrance. This is definitely a very rich and extremely hydrating moisturizer for fall and winter, especially great if you have eczema prone skin or dry skin. I've been a fan of SkinFix for many years across many different product lines and so this one is no different. It's really, really nourishing and hydrating. It doesn't exactly evaporate quickly, which I think is good. You don't want a moisturizer that just absorbs in after a few seconds, so I think this will really do a good job of keeping your skin moisturized all night, even with your heater blaring."

"It has ceramides and anti-inflammatory properties in the form of aloe. I love how thick it is, it's really luxurious feeling cream. I think this is a wonderful one for Accutane skin because it will really deeply hydrate your skin and there's a whole host of these other benefits as well."

"SkinFix Barrier+ Triple Lipid + Peptide Cream is really rich and nourishing, clinically proven to restore the skin barrier. The peptides in this one help with elasticity and collagen production. Super good for that really dry aging skin. It helps strengthen and support compromised skin barrier. The key ingredients here are the triple lipid complex and the peptides."
Peptides in Skincare: Benefits, Types, and Best Products | Dr. Aleksandra Brown
"I've gone through multiple bottles of it. [...] As we age, our skin produces fewer lipids leading to weakened barrier that is more prone to moisture loss, irritation, and sensitivity. [...] This one's clinically proven to restore skin's barrier function within 1 hour of application. It also helps improve elasticity and hydration levels by 70% within 4 weeks of use. It can help reduce transepidermal water loss and prevent that dehydration which is going to make it ideal for mature or maturing skin. This formula includes 3% peptide solution with a neutropeptide blend containing hexapeptide 11, algapeptides 1, 2, and 3, which are known for enhancing skin firmness and barrier support. The key ingredients here are the peptides which are the signaling peptides, the triple lipid complex, and hyaluronic acid."

"This is very, very hydrating, does not have any scent to it. It's very similar to Versed, maybe a little more, like a little softer, a little bit more hydrating. I have used it at night time as part of my retinol sandwich method, but it's appropriate for twice daily use. SkinFix also has the gel version of this which I love for the summer months or if you're more on the oily side, but I like the brand overall very, very much. Their cleansers and moisturizers are amazing."

"Talking about traditional peptide moisturizers, do they work? Not really in the way people think. They are cell signalers typically. So you get the palmitoyl pentapeptide 4, tripeptides 1 and 7. Those [...] peptides [...] will pretty much give the text instructions to your fibroblast and skin cells to make more collagen in your dermis or second layer and does help with fine lines and wrinkles. [...] If I were to [...] rate peptide moisturizers in general about a 7.5 to 8 out of 10 in terms of anti-aging, I don't think it's going to be nearly as good as a retinoid, especially tretinoin or tazarotene that's prescription, but it will be a nice supplement to the anti-aging routine."

"When I make these custom routines, SkinFix is always a brand I include because I know they're going to be fragrance-free typically and I know for the most part if somebody has sensitive skin, they're not going to have an issue with it. [...] The SkinFix Barrier+ Triple Lipid + Peptide Cream is a fragrance-free thick cream that's great for dry or dehydrated skin. It's 54 bucks. The bottle is refillable, which is nice, so if you end up liking it, you can just repurchase the refills. You would unscrew this part and then screw in the cap refill."

The products I recommend in REAL LIFE
"One thing that really really helped was the SkinFix Barrier+ Triple Lipid + Peptide Cream. This is still the moisturizer that I use on the nights that I use my tretinoin, so three nights a week I apply this. [...] It just helps to protect my barrier, keeps my face nice and hydrated, and it's also really great to have in your stash if you've over-exfoliated or something. [...] This is the one that I would recommend for anyone who is beginning the tretinoin journey. If you're looking for a nice heavy moisturizer, [...] this is it."

"This is an interesting texture because it is very buttery, it's very rich, but it's not thick. It's like if you whipped butter, you know, kind of gets fluffy. That's how this feels. And as you spread this onto your skin, it straight up melts into your skin. It's very luxurious. [...] You really feel the oil content here. You feel that nourishing skin softening oil melting into your skin in this airy, fluffy, buttery texture. Very, very moisturizing. If you have dry, flaky skin, this will really soothe that very nicely. And because of the barrier strengthening lipids in here, it can be quite soothing to the skin as well. It does not feel occlusive though, so [...] this is why I feel like this cream may not be the best for those who have dehydration. [...] A little bit of occlusivity in a moisturizer actually helps to resist the dehydration process and helps to resist hydration deep within your skin escaping through the top layers. [...] But if your skin is very dry, if it's very flaky, if it needs softening, if it needs a lot of richness and moisture, this is definitely the one."

5 Star Skincare Empties! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"I use this all winter long. It's very rich, it's moisturizing, it's barrier restorative. I knocked a star off of it because it's pretty pricey product for what it is, for the amount that you get, and it's not my year-round moisturizer. It's really only something that I've been gravitating towards in cold weather. They recently reformulated it within the last few years and I actually really like what they've done with the cream. I think they fixed a lot of the elements I didn't like about when I first tried it years ago."
Save MORE $$$ | Expensive Skincare DUPES (Drugstore Edition)
"This is a pretty nice barrier strengthening moisturizer. [...] The key ingredients include a 3% triple lipid complex with different forms of ceramides, sterols, and fatty acids. These are important crucial lipids that help restore your skin barrier, especially if it's weak or damaged or needs to stay strong in the face of aggressive actives like retinoids or even cold weather. They're also using a 3% peptide solution [...] derived from rice bran, which is good for helping to strengthen the skin barrier and help your skin retain moisture. The only issue [...] is the use of the word peptide itself. It's not really like very recognizable peptides in here. [...] Marketing wise, they are cashing in on the fact that the word peptides usually infers anti-aging benefits."

"I'm really warming up to this, I'm really enjoying this. It's something that I think is really great and it's been helpful for me. This has been really helpful for me. My skin's been going through it this month and this really helped with the peely flaky irritation. I started using this one because it is so rich, it's so moisturizing. I've been playing around with using this cream with just a little bit of another moisturizing cream mixed in and it kind of creates like an even thicker, heftier kind of cream with a little bit more occlusivity. It is so rich, it's so moisturizing, but for me personally it's not overwhelming and it's just like that right mix, that right prescription that my skin needed."
Melt the Day Away | Calming Skincare Routine
"SkinFix has a little bit more silkiness to it. It's so silky and moisturizing that 9 months out of the year it's too much for my skin, but there's kind of an amazing thing that happens between the two creams when I mix them together. When my skin is feeling quite dry, maybe a little raw, maybe irritated, I'll mix them together to really boost up a lot of moisture."
My Sephora Top 15 Skincare Picks
"This cream, I've been rocking it so much this past winter. It did go through a reformulation. I had tried it quite a few years ago, maybe around the time it first debuted at Sephora, and I didn't like it. It was kind of heavy, a little too rich, kind of smelly, it was just weird, I didn't like it. Then I had the opportunity to try it again after it had been reformulated in 2023, and I was like, this is not how I remember this product at all. This is actually a lot more elegant. It's still incredibly rich, but it's actually sinking into my skin a lot better. It feels so soothing, it feels so restorative to my skin. It still smells funny but I don't mind that because it's performing for me so much better, and I just ended up using it so much in the cold weather. That's really where this cream shines, I think, for dry skin. It's incredibly rich. As it says, triple lipid, there's a lot of lipids in here, very very rich fatty acids in here, ceramides in here. It's all focused on building back your skin barrier, really working on soothing dry and flaky skin. It has a very very moisturizing, rich, almost shea buttery like texture to it, and yeah, it's very very nourishing."

"The SkinFix Barrier+ Triple Lipid + Peptide Cream is so good. SkinFix is a Canadian brand, they're female founded. I love the pump tops because it gives you the perfect amount. It is a little bit more on the expensive side, but it's worth it."

"If you have dry skin or just really irritated skin, the Skinfix Triple Lipid Peptide Cream is a must, there's a reason why it's won so many different awards. This one also has all three of the ceramides I talked about earlier, as well as peptides to really work on the collagen levels in your skin, repair the skin barrier, and increase elasticity and strength. There's also a lot of emollient in it, like hemp seed oil. It's always sold out everywhere, it's amazing for dry skin."

"I love the SkinFix Barrier+ Triple Lipid + Peptide Cream. This is my favorite Holy Grail like cream facial moisturizer. It is so good. "I'm a huge fan of the SkinFix Barrier+ Triple Lipid + Peptide Cream, but it's not amenable to the summer, at least not for my skin. I'm more of a combination skin, and for me personally it's too heavy for the summer. Sometimes I'll use it at night if my skin barrier is irritated, but the triple lipid cream is just too thick. It's too thick."

"Their hero product is Skin Fix Barrier Plus, and it's gorgeous. If you're on a retinoid journey and you want something to buffer it out, this is perfect.
