What the gurus are saying

Instant plumping works, though similar results come from much cheaper products. The alpha-3 peptide is supposed to boost collagen and elastin production, but the company's own study was not placebo controlled, so it is unclear if the peptide is actually doing the work. It feels nice to use, but the value proposition does not quite add up.

"StriVectin has some peptide plump with alpha-3 peptide. You get these two bottles for $78.99 for some peptide plumping. Contours Crispus extract is very hydrating. I imagine this will help moisturize and give it sort of a plumping effect but you can achieve that with many other moisturizers. The packaging is kind of interesting for a moisturizer, almost looks like the kind of packaging they would use for foundation. I don't know, I think that would be annoying to use."

"I do like this product, but I can't just comment on how it feels nice and cosmetically elegant, [...] I have to dig deeper, especially with peptides. It has one single peptide, alpha3, which they say [...] encourages the production of hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin, so it's positioned as a well-rounded, does-it-all peptide. [...] They also say they designed this peptide [...] using AI, which I have mixed feelings about."

"The StriVectin peptide plump will give you instant plumping, and it does have some long-term benefits too with that peptide action, so I guess this is probably above some of the quick win options on the market. But you are paying for that."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
