What the gurus are saying

The fragrance-free, minimal formula is the main appeal - it works for those who need stripped-down products with no irritants or fragrance, and interestingly even works as a shaving cream. However, many find it feels stripping and lacks the lather, scent, and scalp-massage sensation they really crave from a shampoo. Best for those with fragrance sensitivities or who prefer truly minimal formulas.

"The Ordinary does have that. I will say my dad loves their shampoo. He loves that shampoo I bought for him. So, now he's all over it. He needs fragrance free products, too."

I've Tried Every Product From The Ordinary & These are the Skincare I'm Still Using Years Later
"It's their sulfate shampoo cleanser. It really works well for my dad. I think it's a hair and body shampoo. [...] I've gone through a few bottles of it. I typically use it as a clarifying shampoo, occasionally. It works well."

"I feel like I need something that's a bit more hydrating. [...] There is nothing in here that's hydrating. It's just a very basic, literally a very basic cleanser. You've got your sodium laurith sulfate, which they're saying is at 4%. So that's actually quite a gentle surfactant, but that's basically all that's here. Polysorbate is what creates some micelles around dirt to wash it away. Xanthan gum is a thickener and then tocopherol acetate we use a fraction of a percent."

"I don't use a shaving cream, I use The Ordinary shampoo or conditioner depending on how my hair feels. [...] I've actually been doing this for quite a while, not with The Ordinary but with other brands. [...] I've tried so many different shaving creams and I haven't found any that I absolutely love. [...] The shampoo is really great because you can see what you're doing, so if you're trying to see if you got all of the spots this is a great option."

What Happened After I Used The Ordinary Hair Care For 2 Months - Brutally Honest Curly Hair Review
"It kind of washes your hair but I didn't feel like my hair was actually super clean. It didn't weigh down my hair and it was fragrance-free which was awesome, [...] but I have an oily scalp and I feel like this didn't clean my hair enough and it just didn't do what I needed it to. When it comes to wearing my hair curly I found that my roots are constantly getting so oily whereas the rest of my hair is dry, and [...] I feel like this almost made it a little bit worse."
What I'm Doing About My Hair Loss…
"I'm currently using [...] these from The Ordinary [...] shampoo and conditioner. But so far, no seagar. When it comes to shampoos and conditioners, I might consider putting a couple drops of peppermint oil into the shampoo to see if that does anything because I really think that this ordinary shampoo lends itself well to adding things to it."

"I just finished up The Ordinary shampoo and conditioner, which were not too bad, although the shampoo is boring. I love a really scented shampoo, I like the foam, the lather, I like to have a sense that I can feel it being massaged over my scalp. This one is like, hello, are you even up there."
