What the gurus are saying

This mineral sunscreen earns consistent praise for its complete absence of scent, even the typical sunscreen smell, which gurus found genuinely unusual and valuable. The texture strikes a rare balance: it feels feather-light during application but delivers intense moisture without heaviness, thanks to a dry-touch finish that prevents stickiness. Reviewers found it works well for incidental sun exposure and across skin types including sensitive and fair skin, with no white cast in sight.

"There's the most subtle little white cast to it, not enough to really notice it or worry about using it on a daily basis. I love this because it really feels more like a lotion, less like a sunscreen, so this is going to be what you should be putting on your skin every day if you're going to be wearing short sleeves and shorts, going to be outside, even just running errands, doing stuff like that. This is your go-to, super affordable."

"This is probably the most impressive drugstore mineral body sunscreen I've found. When I started using it, I was immediately impressed by how well it blends into the skin with a very, very minimal white cast, which is saying a lot when it comes to drugstore body sunscreens, because normally it's just the absolute worst. I love drugstore skincare, but mineral body sunscreens are not their strong point, but the Versed one is really great for protecting your body from the sun."

"This is perfect for all skin types including sensitive skin and on my fair skin I don't see a white cast whatsoever. It works great, it's very lightweight, it spreads nicely, it's very very moisturizing as well, and it's fragrance free."

"It's a mineral sunscreen with an SPF of 30. I've been using this on days where I'm just getting incidental sun exposure and it's been really perfect for that. What I like about this is the texture during application is really light but then it's actually quite an intensely moisturizing sunscreen. But what prevents it from feeling really heavy on the skin is it's got a dry touch finish, so it definitely mattifies down and it's not invasive. It doesn't feel sticky or gooey."

    What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

    Sunscreen filters

Sun protection is the best evidenced way to slow visible ageing, and the filters are what does the work. Mineral and chemical filters both protect when a product is applied thickly enough and often enough, which is where most people fall short rather than on the choice of filter.

    Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.

    Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
