"Between the global spicule serum and this one, I'm going to pick this one. It's a bit more spicy than the other but it doesn't last as long, but I definitely like it more because I can feel a little more tightening, and I put it here and around the eye area too. Because of the little spicy tingle it also makes the skin pretty moisturized. If you're older than me, over 40, just try it out, but if you have sensitive skin be careful, it can make thin or red-prone skin more red. Also don't use it together with retinol or vitamin C, that's too many actives at once, use it on a different day."

"The VT Reedle Shot isn't for everyday and it's not for everybody, it's more like a treat you use rarely, not for beginners who don't have their skincare routine down. It's not really a new concept, the tiny needles remove dead skin cells so your moisturizer penetrates better, and it comes in different strength levels. If you have rosacea, eczema, sensitive skin, or atopic inflammation it's going to make you worse, so please patch test before you try it. For me it was just a little tickle, so I'd start low at the lowest level, and don't use it together with retinol, vitamin C, or other beauty devices because that's too much stimulus for your skin. After you use it, it leaves tiny scars on your skin so you have to seal it with a moisturizer afterward. I don't recommend it to my students, but if you have oily skin and care a lot about your pores, or you have an important event and want your makeup to sit really well, it makes sense to use it for a short period. They also sent me a new version with PDRN, red tea, and collagen added, and their influencer marketing is amazing, but it's so heavy."

"This makes tiny holes with small needles, which tightens your pores and makes your skin more elastic, but it's not like a normal serum, why would you make micro scars on your skin every day. If you have sensitive skin or redness, be careful. It's a super big hit all over the world, but I'm not a fan of this concept because I have redness and it feels like too much to use every day. I'd say this is a C, but if you love it you can try it out, I'm just not a fan of it, sorry."

"VT Reedle Shot is this year's K-beauty superstar, it's based on the principle of causing a slight wound to the skin so active ingredients can penetrate deeper. There are a few types, 50, 100, and 300, the most famous is 100 and that's the one I tried, the bigger the number the stronger it is. I don't use this, my face stings, itches, and the redness got worse. If you have thin skin, atopic dermatitis, inflammation, or melasma, never use it. I got more negatives than positives from it. For people with thick skin and big pores, I'd recommend starting from the 50."

"I got to try the VT Reedle Shot along with some sheet masks that go with them, and I remain convinced that it's just one of many ways to increase absorption. I've had strange experiences with them getting too close to my eye area, and I do not like feeling those needle sponges in my skin all day. If you like the Reedle Shot products, that's great, more power to you, but they're not for me."

"This is the VT Collagen Reedle Shot, and this is the one that I really, really enjoyed. This is the one I've almost finished as well. In addition to niacinamide, you obviously have hyaluronic acid and you have collagen, which is generally a very moisturizing and very nourishing ingredient. It's basically a serum infused product, same technology as the microneedling patches but in a serum infused version. I put this on before my retinol, because it has collagen, niacinamide, and peptides, so I use my peptides first and retinol later. The penetration is next level, the skin is absolutely amazing."

This is a potent, potent Korean skincare product that uses spicules to almost inject those amino acids, which are the core bases of the serum, deeper into the skin. I love this and I got great results. If those spicules put you off or scare and intimidate you a little bit, that's fine, but you get super quick wins with that VT Collagen Reedle Shot 100."

"Having used tretinoin as an example, over time that gave a smoothness but not in the same league as this. This was honestly the smoothest my skin has ever been, and after just seven days I noticed that my hyperpigmentation was fading. I don't have a lot of hyperpigmentation, but I get a little on the cheeks, a little on the forehead where I have breakouts, and after just seven days this started to eradicate some of that. I could definitely see that it was lifting. I wasn't expecting that, and I certainly went into this as a skeptic and was completely won over after seven days. [...] I came home from my trip and had left the product there, so that stopped it, but after just those seven days it was such a noticeable before and after that it's convinced me to buy another and keep going with it. When it comes to this spicule technology, be aware [...] that you will get a slight tingling sensation. It's not out of the ordinary, but it's definitely worth noting, and I'd have to say if you've got very sensitive skin I probably wouldn't use this serum. Whilst a lot of the ingredients are calming and soothing, which look great for sensitive skin, because of those spicules I probably would avoid it. [...] The technology behind this is that these spicules almost inject the product, though that's a bit of a lame explanation since there's no injection actually happening. What these spicules are designed to do is drive the ingredients, the product, deeper into the skin beyond what you'd normally get from a topical application. It doesn't go really deep into the skin like you'd expect with a needle or anything, these particles are microscopic, but it will help it go beneath the initial dead skin."

"For me, the 100 wins every time. You can use it daily, so you can be consistent with it if you want to be, you don't get too much sensitivity, and you still get great results. All of the other options, the colored ones which have different active ingredients, use that 100 strength, so if your skin can tolerate the 100, you'll be able to use the rest of them no problem at all. I think they're all beginner friendly, unless you've got crazy sensitive skin you'll be able to use these and it shouldn't be a problem."

"This product uses their bespoke spicule technology, and these spicules are little needles which help push the actives deeper into the skin for quicker and more effective results. They come in different numbers, and the higher the number the more spicules exist in the product. For me, I find that the 100, which is actually one of their lowest strengths, just works the best. If you go higher than that you get a real prickling, unpleasant sensation in my opinion, so I've tended to stick with the 100 where there's enough spicules within it to really get those enhanced benefits, [...] but not so many that it becomes unpleasant to apply. I definitely learned over that 12 month period that the application is key. Don't [...] rub it in like you would a traditional serum, those spicules are actually going to really irritate the skin. I find just dotting it all over the skin and then pressing it in gives a great level of results, but it's not too sensitizing, not too irritating. [...] Keep it low in terms of strength, the 100s are absolutely perfect, and all of the newer versions do come in that 100 strength, that to me is perfection, and pressing rather than rubbing it in is going to give you the very best results. 12 months on, am I still impressed with this product? Honestly, I really, really am."

"Now in third position [...] and going strong is actually the VT Collagen Reedle Shot 100. This surprised me a little bit. I love the VT Reedle Shot line, I love all of them, but I'm surprised that the original, the plain, the basic one is the one that's in the bestsellers list. [...] This is the product that kickstarted it all. It contains spicules, as does the whole line, which push the ingredients deeper into the skin for some extra benefit. I love that and they work really well for my skin. However, with so many different versions, I would go for one of the added extra ones rather than the plain 100. They have so many amazing versions of this with added ingredients that help you streamline, get you a little extra bang for your buck. I would say don't follow the herd and just buy the basic 100, get the same with some added skincare ingredients by choosing one of the other versions. That's what I think works best for me. [...] But yeah, absolutely nothing wrong with the plain, with the original."

"This is the VT Collagen Reedle Shot. This actually uses spicule technology which helps the ingredients penetrate a little bit more effectively, giving you super quick results. You'll start to see that glass skin plumpness and glow in as little as three applications, [...] so if you're impatient this works. It's got collagen in here which is fantastic at hydrating and plumping the skin. You've also got a lot of different components from centella asiatica, such as madecassic acid, madecassoside, things that are really going to help calm and reduce inflammation, and you've got some saccharide action, so it's ticking all of those boxes to get your glass skin on point. This can cause a little bit of prickling and sensitivity when you first use it, and that's down to those spicules which are pushing those ingredients deeper into the skin to get you those quick results. This isn't going to be for everyone. If you have a very sensitive skin type, or you're somebody that doesn't like that prickling sensation, then maybe opt for something else."

"I don't have the VT Reedle Shot 100 here, but you can feel these little needles stabbing you, and I'm not a huge fan of it. I think there are better ways to get better penetration of ingredients into the skin, and I just don't like the sensation of it. Plus I don't know what happens with those needles over time. So I'm not a big fan of the Reedle Shot, even though you'll probably see some exfoliating benefits of it. But to me it's no different than [...] using an apricot scrub on the face. Both are going to exfoliate the skin in an uneven way. So I'm just [...] not a huge fan of it."

"When you rub these spikes into your skin, they either exfoliate your skin and get rid of some of the dead skin layers, or they might stick into your skin and create micro channels. Both mean that ingredients can potentially get deeper more easily. Spicules are relatively new, so there are essentially two big questions: do they work, and are they actually safe? In my opinion, it looks like they are effective for smoothing out skin texture and making pores look smaller, those are the main things people have been raving about. But it's a bit harder to say how well they work for delivering ingredients deeper, since they're physical spikes, that's going to depend on how you use it, how hard you rub and for how long, also the specifics of the formula, like the shapes of the spicules, how many there are, and what the other active ingredients are. There aren't a lot of human studies and they're all very small sample sizes, but overall I think it's really promising. There's a research group in China led by Professor Ming Chen, they've looked at lots of really cool applications like delivering insulin and treating melanoma. These need to work much deeper than skincare, and generally the spicules are paired with other delivery systems like liposomes, but overall lots of potential. The other big question is safety. Dr Dray, in early 2024, said she was worried about foreign body granulomas. Basically the concern is spicules are made of silica, which is the same as glass or sand. In theory, if a spicule gets too deep, you could end up with a chunk in your skin that your body can't break down. Your immune system might then react, and you essentially end up with a really angry bump that can be difficult to treat, and this sort of thing can take years to show up."

"I haven't used it with prescription retinoids yet, but I have used it with a very gentle vitamin A/C and that's been fine so far. So yeah, really excited about using this. I'm hoping to maybe graduate to a higher level soon. I don't think I really need to go that high, but maybe I'll try the 300 soon as well. But I think this is a really nice, safe starter product that's not too hard to incorporate into your routine, and I think it's really cool to have a product that is truly innovative."

"For me personally I've definitely seen a difference with skin texture, [...] the texture of my forehead, congestion on my nose, but yes it's still early days because I'm on the VT Collagen Reedle Shot 100. [...] I'm not massively targeting things like acne breakouts or hyperpigmentation, so the results on me aren't as amazing as you see on other before and afters, but the subtle things like improving texture will go a long way to make my skin overall look so much better. "I wouldn't discredit what skincare experts are saying online, but I also wouldn't discredit the research that has gone into this and the years that this kind of product has been around prior to VT coming out with this product. Try it if you really want, look at the results for yourself online, they have been amazing. I use this as much as I would exfoliate, so maybe three times a week. I've been really, really enjoying this, really. I love it. I personally would recommend it if you're struggling with dark spots, if you're struggling with enlarged pores, fine lines, whatever, and you want to boost your actives that you feel like aren't really doing anything anymore, give this a go."

But I also find that the Reedle Shot has massively helped with my skin texture. It's gently exfoliating, it makes the skin look very, very smooth.
