The Dyson one, it tends to make my hair stick together and tangle more for some reason. [...] I really do think that this one, [...] my hair loves it more for some reason.
Dr. Jenny Liu: Nay vs gurus 71% Yay
I love Vanicream but I have to tell you their Free and Clear line for shampoo and conditioner isn't the most elegant, at least for me. Like it just didn't deliver.
Dr. Jenny Liu: Nay vs gurus 69% Yay
There's also Cvy and Cetaphil Healing Ointment, although I do find those two to be not as occlusive enough. I honestly, when it comes to lips, much rather prefer just 100% petrolatum or Aquaphor. I find that these two really add the most long-lasting occlusive protective benefits to my lips compared to the other two. The other two I feel like it look just a little bit more lightweight, so not so much great for the lips based on my personal opinion.
Dr. Jenny Liu: Nay vs gurus 64% Yay
You can certainly try scalp sunscreen. The two brands I've tried are Sun Bum as well as Coola. In general, I tend to find sunscreen for the scalp to be very greasy, so it's one of those things where if you use it, I do recommend washing it off at night just to avoid any buildup that may contribute to inflammation.

"Their Super Serum. Olay is the OG niacinamide formulator and they formulate very uniquely at a low pH. That's been shown to be even more effective than just like regular typical pH. I've seen their clinical data. Really helps with brightening, helping with antioxidant benefits, anti-glycation. So if you're looking for a like more simplified routine of all-in-one to help exfoliate, improve texture and tone when it comes to skin rejuvenation, the Super Serum is the way to go."

"I am a firm believer that vitamin C serums are not all created equal. I use SkinCeuticals C Ferulic and I've been using that for 14 plus years now. The vitamin C serum combined with retinoid really gives most people 90% of what they need to really have skin longevity."

"If you want to take it a step further, Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Serum as well as RoC wrinkle correction cream or serum are great as the next level up for those who have done maybe more milder retinol and are ready for a stronger topical retinol in drugstores to give you more results for helping to improve fine lines and to support collagen."

"You can certainly try things like almond oil or even Bio-Oil, that may offer some skin hydration and indirectly maybe prevent stretch marks from forming or prevent pre-existing ones from worsening. I don't think it hurts to try, but I would never tell someone to use this oil and you're guaranteed no stretch marks, because that's just not the case."

"It works really well synergistically with salicylic acid, which is why you often see them formulated together. I recommend going with the 2 to 4% concentration, because higher concentration means more irritation, [...] so less is usually better. [...] First Aid Beauty has a 2% niacinamide resurfacing lotion that you can apply after using your salicylic acid product."

"I really love it. It's a really great Eye Cream that helps with peptides to really support collagen and then of course some of the retinol products I mentioned earlier in the context of helping with pigment. [...] Eye Cream especially for those who have more aging mature skin [...] can improve just overall the texture of the under-eye skin and along with hydration and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles."

"Paula's Choice Pro-Collagen Multi-Peptide Booster is lovely. It's lightweight, fast-absorbing, and doesn't pill. I use it in the morning on top of my vitamin C and at night before my retinoids. [...] The whole line is great, but if I could only pick one product to use and to purchase, it would be this one, the serum. I find that serum is something I can use through my routine more regularly. These are great peptides, pro-collagen peptides that help to improve and support collagen production."

"This line targets different pathways in hyperpigmentation. [...] When it comes to treating stubborn hyperpigmentation, [...] you really need to have ingredients that work at different steps. Not only just blocking how pigment is made, but also blocking the transfer of pigment, as well as helping with skin turnover. [...] This one does it. It targets multiple pathways, so great for post-acne marks, uneven skin tone from sun damage, or even if you struggle with melasma."
✓Yay

"It's a wonderful ingredient and then of course, jojoba oil, coq10 that is non-comedogenic and I think that's what is why it's so lovely. It's hydrating, doesn't cake, and gives a nice pretty shimmer. Of course, it's got centella and watermelon extract. So this is just all around wonderful product that's so pretty. It's buildable and [...] it's got multiple different ways of using it. So highly recommend checking it out if you haven't."

"Lovely, spreads really nicely, improves hydration again without the heaviness. [...] It's got 1% ceramide complex, 2% niacinamide, which is the ideal concentration to help with sebum control, offer some skin barrier support benefits, and some antioxidant benefits as well. Heptapeptide-7 that helps to support your skin barrier along with hyaluronic acid and yeast extract. So a lovely texture, more of that moisturizer that supports your skin, fragrance-free."

"And this is really hydrating too, hyaluronic acid as well as this gentle calming complex that really contains a blend of antioxidants that just kind of reduces redness and inflammation at the same time. Even though this is more for those with redness, I actually think this is a great option if you have oily skin but maybe your barrier is temporarily compromised or you have that combination of oily and sensitive skin."

"This is a great HA serum if you want hydration without any sort of residue. Like when you put it on your skin after it's absorbed, you feel nothing, but yet your skin feels incredibly hydrated. It delivers deep hydration because it's got this complex of five different types of hyaluronic acid of various weights that helps to basically hydrate your skin from the top to kind of the middle layer of your skin along with panthenol that we know is soothing, centella extract and elastin."
✓Yay

"It's a really lovely one, especially for those with dry and sensitive skin. It's got ceramides that are really important for the skin barrier, but also centella. Centella is [...] anti-inflammatory, but there's also great emerging studies that show centella helps to stimulate fibroblasts and support their ability to make collagen. So it actually has skin rejuvenating and anti-aging benefits. It also has allantoin that we know is hydrating and soothing."

"One serum that I am obsessed with lately is from Allies of Skin. This beta glucan and resveratrol serum. It's a pretty creamy serum, but I love it. I actually sometimes will even use it in place of my moisturizer in the morning. Even though the texture is a creamy, milky serum, it is a little bit more dense compared to a watery serum. But there's just something about this formulation that is so hydrating. I love the way it feels on my skin."

"The iUNIK Beta Glucan Power Moisture Serum is a lightweight yet deeply hydrating serum that helps really boost moisture at different levels of the skin. It's got that beta glucan that we know is really helpful at hydrating the skin but also supporting the skin barrier. It's a good humectant as well and it's pretty lightweight. You can layer it under sunscreen, under your moisturizer, or in the summertime use it alone as almost like your moisturizer."
✓Yay

"I really love this. [...] I use it in the morning on top of my vitamin C serum and at night before my topical retinoid. [...] It's a great one because it's not irritating. You can easily incorporate it into your existing routine and if you're worried about retinoids, this may interfere with your retinoids, it will not. So this is the beauty of this product, which is why I love it so much."

"And you don't have to worry about causing white spots or blotches [...] around dark spots, or you can just apply to areas where you have dark spots to spot treat. This product is not going to do that."

"But licorice itself does have some brightening properties. I've used it with my retinol at night as well as my vitamin C in the morning and I have not gotten any irritation. When I struggle with hyperpigmentation, I probably just use the serum because it's got the most concentrated active. I have recommended it to many of my patients in clinic that are wanting a skin brightening product without a prescription."

"It actually does contain salmon PDRN with a peptide complex and niacinamide to overall improve skin texture, tone, and help with skin rejuvenation. It is hypoallergenic and suitable for sensitive skin."

"Their Dive-In Low Molecular Hyaluronic Acid Soothing Cream is lovely as well. It also contains low molecular weight hyaluronic acid for that hydrating soothing effect without the heaviness. It really helps to prevent moisture loss but does not feel heavy, does not feel like your skin is shiny or greasy. It's got this flexible, stretchy gel-like technology, so I would lump it as a gel cream that absorbs really quickly and layers nicely under makeup."

"I believe it's at Sephora and they use a combination of green tea from Jeju Island, which is famous for green tea in Korea, along with green tea seeds that have additional antioxidant and calming soothing benefits. "Talk about affordable yet accessible, great one for sensitive skin. Nothing really beats this one. And many derms love Vanicream because it's just a really great line all around for all skin types, but especially if you have eczema prone, rosacea prone, sensitive skin or maybe have a history of allergies to potential skincare ingredients. This line is really made for those individuals. It's made with minimal ingredients and avoiding common potential triggers."

"It helps to reduce the appearance of pores, regulate sebum, and calm redness. It is lightweight, but [...] depending on how many serums you use, [...] it could become slightly tacky or [...] have a little bit of a tacky residue, so just be careful if you're layering. With 10% niacinamide, it doesn't mean it's not effective, but it could potentially add irritation, so be careful of that especially if you have sensitive skin."

"This is one that I use myself and recommend to patients. It's not a separate niacinamide serum. It does contain niacinamide in it along with other products, but it's really geared towards those that struggle with hyperpigmentation. I do struggle with post acne marks, so it's great for those that struggle with that as well as melasma. It [...] has been clinically proven to help reduce dark spots and post acne marks and also [...] helps to improve skin clarity and evenness."

"I've used a serum myself. I think it was fine for me but I'm the type of person who really don't need a separate nice serum. I've had friends who have super oily skin, super textured skin and really swear by this product. [...] This is great for kind of combination, normal skin, oily skin, and potentially could work well for sensitive skin, but with that 20% higher concentration, I think it's just more be careful of the potential irritation."
✓Yay

"It's a really nice alternative and you really can't go wrong for the price. It has a gel moisturizer texture that absorbs quickly, lightweight, hydrates without any heaviness, and it's fragrance-free, so it's a little bit more ideal if you have sensitive skin. It has additional anti-inflammatory ingredients added for calming and soothing, so I think it's going to be more suitable for those that have sensitive skin looking for a moisturizer that provides additional benefits."

I really recommend tinted sunscreens for anyone that's struggling with hyperpigmentation, especially if your darker skin tone, because we know that visible light plays a huge role in perpetuating that hyperpigmentation, and the tint, the iron oxide that gives it the tint, is one that effectively blocks the visible light."

"This is just a lovely elegant cleansing oil that removes makeup and sunscreen really nicely without leaving much of an oily film or residue. And for me that scent, I'm so addicted to, and it really takes that cleansing experience to the next level, like self-care. I think that is one of the biggest reasons why I love this product so much. From personal experience I did use Latisse for like a year many years back and that's what I experienced: my lashes fell out less, grew longer, but weren't really fuller. One of the side effects is that prostaglandin can actually induce pigment or melanin synthesis, which is why one of the side effects that we warn patients about when prescribing a prostaglandin serum like Latisse is that you may get brown eye color."

"Grande lash contains a prostaglandin analog, a common one is called isopropyl cloprostenate. There are many other ones, but this is a common one and it can be a problem because consumers don't know that, and when they're using it they may not be expecting this irritation and hyperpigmentation that may occur. The irritation and hyperpigmentation have been reported so much that the FDA has actually issued warning letters to the brand basically informing them they need to be fully transparent."

"I've only used the 0.1 and it's really gentle. It also comes in an eye cream. Retrinal is one of the first products at least I was aware of that contains retinal. Retinal, as the name implies, is retinal. As far as the actual time, if you're wanting to use that as your device you have to use it I believe like 5 minutes so it's definitely much shorter, and then you have to use it I think like 5 to 6 days a week for about 4 to 6 weeks before you kind of jump into the maintenance."

"Result wise, the biggest difference I've noticed on my skin is actually the reduction of my neck wrinkles. I have tech neck from always being on my phone and computer, and over the past five to six months with consistent use of the neck mask, because my skincare routine hasn't really changed significantly, the wrinkles on my neck have definitely softened up a lot more than before."

"I really love CurrentBody's Series 2 LED mask, which has red, infrared and near infrared light that penetrates deeper to help better stimulate collagen. It's more about consistency, but after a few months of consistent use it definitely does help and add a little bit."

"When it comes to LED helmets, I do recommend the CurrentBody Skin LED Hair Growth Helmet because it is backed by clinical trials and science. First of all, it is FDA cleared, which means it's passed safety tests to be used at home. Can be used alone or to complement your current hair regrowth treatment, and it contains 122 red light LEDs to penetrate the scalp to stimulate hair follicles, encouraging thicker and healthier hair."

"Great new shades but also a few shimmery colors that you can use for special events. On a regular basis for filming, I love the fact that it looks natural. I stick to the bottom shades when I'm filming or when I need something for work. The color applies super smoothly, it's really creamy, it doesn't crease. I love the fact that when I put this on top of my eyelid primer it really lasts all day. It makes it really travel friendly."

"The metal rod applicator actually delivers better lash separation. You're able to actually get to your lashes and coat the lashes with the mascara more effectively top and bottom without getting it on your lids. [...] It's a really innovative way of applying mascara [...] that really allows you to get that lash definition and separation and coat your lashes really well without getting the product on your lid."

"Clinique has the High Impact Mascara in black that's really lovely for anyone that has sensitive eyes. I think this would be a great mascara to try."

"The first product is called 2020 Beauty Get Growing Lash and Brow Serum. This is actually developed by an ophthalmologist and the active ingredient here is castor oil, very similar to Latisse or Thea Pros. What doctors notice is that when they use castor oil, eye doctors for dry eyes, some individuals would get longer-looking lashes. Now we don't have actual studies on the benefits of castor oil for lengthening eyelashes, a lot of it is just anecdotal."

"If you have fine Asian lashes like myself and have a hard time finding a mascara that will keep your curl lashes stay curled then you got to check out this one, the Kiss Me Heroin Long and Curl Mascara. It's water resistant but it's fairly easy to remove and keeps your lash staying curled, which is something that I really struggle with with a lot of the mascaras that are found in the traditional drugstores from American brands."

"This concealer is really lovely. It's got pretty decent coverage that is buildable, doesn't cake, and I use this concealer on my under eyes and I go one shade lighter, which really actually helps to brighten and highlight at the same time. It's got this serum-like lightweight texture that is medium coverage, buildable, and really hydrating. So [...] if you're looking for a good concealer that doesn't cake and hydrates and is suitable for sensitive skin, this one is the one to try."

"It's really hydrating, and I also use it on my under eye. It doesn't crack or cake up readily and works really well for pimples or post-acne marks. [...] When you match the color correctly to your tone, you don't need multiple different shades. Some people use a lighter shade for their dark circles and a different shade for their pimples, but this one I just use one [...] color: custard. It works really well for my under eyes as well as everything else on my face to correct my complexion."

"It is super hydrating, it's super pigmented so a little bit goes a long way. [...] You don't need a lot because often when you use a lot of concealer that is when it can easily crack and kick up. This one, because it's super richly pigmented, has what they call the expression proof technology that essentially prevents it from kicking and cracking so that way it doesn't make you look older and doesn't make you look like you have more wrinkles than you really do."

"If you're looking for skin-specific collagen, then Verisol collagen is the one to get. Those are the specific trademark type 1 collagen that's unique for skin absorption that will improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. What it's really done for me when I take it consistently is improve my skin barrier function and hydration, and I think wrinkles look less."

"The texture is slightly thicker than the Korean version but still very much lightweight and non-greasy, and it still contains all the original ingredients like rice extract, probiotics, and Niacinamide. It still delivers that hydration without feeling thick or heavy, and it's still great for sensitive skin."

"This is a supplement that's been shown in clinical studies to reduce UV damage and sunburns. It's derived from a fern from South America called polypodium leucotomos. It is not a replacement for sunscreen, however when taken with sunscreen on top of some protective clothing, it's essentially an oral antioxidant supplement that can offer additional protection against damage."

Powder & Setting2 reviews
"This powder really impressed me and I've been loving it. How I use it and why I love it is because number one it really helps to set my eye makeup. I on a regular basis will just basically put on concealer and then powder my eyebrow lids and under eyes to help draw in my brows, eye makeup, and obviously mascara and prevent things from running."

"It's super popular, it lasts for a long time, really great at controlling shine and kind of has this pore blurring effect and also creates kind of this no flash effect when you are filming or photographing. So just really nice to use regularly or for special events. [...] A little bit goes a long way and I basically just set my eyebrow, my eyes, my T-Zone on a regular basis when I film or when I have special events, and then certainly you can use it all over too."

"For nail files I actually really like glass nail files. I find that they're higher quality and get the job done more effectively without introducing micro tears into your nail plate. One I really recommend is from Dr Dana, their glass nail file. That is really easy to use and it really helps me to smooth down my nails very quickly without introducing additional trauma to the nail."

"It contains red propolis, which is a honey bee-derived product, and xanthin hibiscus extract that helps to nourish and maintain the skin barrier with great antioxidants to support the skin along with other plant-derived ingredients that promote hydration and help improve your complexion. If you're looking for a great foundation cushion to use on a daily basis or for important events, I think this is a great one for a natural finish that still offers really decent coverage that lasts all day."

"Dr Dana has a nail renewal kit that comes with three items: basically that glycolic acid nail treatment and a pen that you can easily brush on as well as a nail buffer that we use afterwards and then a post treatment oil that you will brush on. You can basically have that whole rejuvenation process already pre-made for you that's really easy to use and can easily follow and do this regularly for nail rejuvenation. I just love how user friendly and not intimidating this kit is."
