What the gurus are saying

The whipped cream texture is the main draw, delivering effective non-foaming cleansing, just not the squeaky-clean feeling some expect. Those with dry skin found it works particularly well for their needs, but dispensing is difficult to control and product is easily wasted, making the $34 price tough to justify when drugstore alternatives cost far less. A small amount goes a long way.

"It's on my list because this got in my eyes once and I was done with it, [...] and it turns out everyone who tried it had the same experience, [...] it stings so badly. [...] You can't use it around your eyes even though they advertise it can remove makeup, so if you can't use it where you tend to apply makeup, then what's the point. [...] You also have to clean the nozzle after every use or it gets gunky."

Asymmetrical Face Treatment, Whipped Cream Cleanser, & More …but are these new? (8/25)
"I was kind of disappointed the first time I used this, [...] I did expect more. [...] It's so hard to control how much comes out, so it's easy to waste a lot, you really don't need much of this, [...] especially if you have dry skin. [...] It's a cream cleanser, a non foaming cleanser, so if you [...] feel like [...] your skin didn't get cleaned, it actually is cleansed, you just may not feel [...] that squeaky clean feeling. Is it [...] a little gimmicky?"

"Um the hyaluronic cloud cleanser from uh what's that guy's name? Peter Thomas Roth."

"I switched the two so and I didn't even realize until the next morning I was smearing this on my face, I was so tired. I just got to get something on my face so it feels hydrated after being in the air and traveling all that and then I wake up the next morning my skin's pretty itchy. Not terribly so, not as bad as you would think mixing up the two and leaving a cleanser on your skin for 12 hours or whatever, but it wasn't a great experience. I wouldn't recommend it to anybody."

New Skincare & Beauty Product Drops - From Glow Recipe, The Ordinary, Sunday Riley & More
"It contains propane which would help the product foam as it comes out and then it dissolves in the air. So I don't think that affects your skin at all. It's supposed to be a lightweight hydrating facial cleanser. [...] It's got the main ingredients in it are shea butter, sunflower seed oil, apple extract, glycerin, and glucactylone. It's 34 bucks, which I have a feeling when it's foamy like that, it's either going to last a long time or not long at all. I'm not sure."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
