What the gurus are saying

This oil cleanser splits the experts. Dermatologists who tested it praise its lightweight texture and gentle fragrance, and find it excellent for removing eye makeup and mascara without heaviness. However, one dermatologist raises a concern that it may worsen pigmentation, particularly for people with deeper skin tones, so anyone prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation may want to patch-test first. One note if you live somewhere cold: it thickens in cooler temperatures, so it may feel less smooth to apply.

"This is another globally viral cleansing oil. Similar to the Anua one, it's more oil like, not too heavy, so even if you're a newbie you can still start with it. It has Centella in it. If you're okay with Centella that's totally fine, and for me it was okay."

"Great, a great beginner oil cleanser. Even if you usually hate oils, this one is very easy to like, it removes light makeup completely with oil alone. The texture is very watery so you might use more than you expect, but performance-wise it's smooth, gentle, effective. Yes."

"This one is more popular outside Korea and I've used it for years. It rolls really well and feels pretty lightweight compared to other cleansing oils. I recommend it for oily combo and acne prone skin too."

"This cleansing oil is their number one product, similar oil like texture to the Anua one, so if you're new to cleansing oils, try it out. But I feel it's not erasing 100% of your blackheads. For light makeup like a tinted moisturizer you can remove it fine, but for heavy makeup, I'd definitely recommend something else."

"SKIN1004 is similar to the Anua synthetic oil, low oil content, it emulsifies well, but be careful because it has centella in it and some people react really badly to it, so please test it first. I would only use this when I've only worn sunscreen or really light makeup because it's too light, so I have to pump a lot. Does it erase blackheads and whiteheads? I don't think so. No reaction for me, but I'm not repurchasing it, they made it too mild."

"I think they focused too much on making this light and mild, so it doesn't cleanse well. Blackhead removal is also difficult with this one, so I only use it on my no makeup days, just to remove my sunscreen."

"This is a great lightweight cleansing oil that contains centella asiatica, which I feel like is really the trademark of the Skin1004 line. It gently removes makeup, sunscreen, impurities. Great for double cleansing. It also can be used alone. It rinses off without leaving much residue and it's great for sensitive skin as well. Ingredient wise, it does contain centella, so it offers some soothing benefits, again why I think it's great for sensitive skin, along with lots of different plant derived oils along with glycerin. So this is a great one too, and it comes in a pretty decent size bottle that takes time to go through, and I do feel like that's the benefit of these cleansing oils, a little bit goes a long way. This is another great option that is lightweight, minimal, does not leave any residue. I think it's also appropriate for acne prone skin, helps to remove everything from your face in a gentle yet effective way."

"For me, this is an absolute no. A product like this is going to lead to more pigmentation, which is what's going to happen for a large percentage of our community."

"The SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Light Cleansing Oil is lightweight enough to not suffocate me during summer, yet manages to make my face feel clean despite several layers of sebum and sunscreen mixed."

"This is the oil cleanser I'm currently using from Skin1004, the Madagascar Centella Light Cleansing Oil. I've rather been enjoying this. It is lightweight and it does have a bit of an aroma to it, which is not so bad. I find it to be a superior way to remove eye makeup, um mascara, all that stuff with an oil as opposed to a typical cleanser."

"I got their light cleansing oil and it's really nice. It does have fragrance, kind of has a nice little botanic subtle aroma, not heavy or headache inducing, doesn't radiate up into your sinuses. [...] This light scent, very light textured oil in comparison to some of the other cleansing oils. I really like that."

"This cleansing oil is really popular from Skin1004, two bottles for $29.99, which is a pretty good value. I love this brand, but the cleansing oil was not my favorite. It's not bad, and it's really a popular cleansing oil, but I didn't like it because the aroma was pretty noticeable, which I don't like in a cleansing oil. And also I felt like it was a little light and a little bit unwieldy, but it works. If I had another one in my possession that was gifted to me or something, I would gladly use it with no complaints, but it's not one I actively seek out. But $29.99, I don't think is a bad price here at Costco."

"Such a good cleansing oil when it's cold it actually uses a little more chunky so just keep that in mind if you live in a cold environment. It's normally $20 to $21, it's on sale for $15 to $10. For Prime day you can actually bundle it for additional discounts so it comes out to like $11 to $12 if you use coupons."

"I absolutely loved the Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Light Cleansing Oil. I love it because the company says you don't have to double cleanse with it, you can use it as a one step makeup removing cleanser. I've since found out it's not the only cleansing oil that works that way for me, any good cleansing oil with surfactant that feels light can do the same job, but this one is still great."

"This was my old favorite cleansing oil. I always liked it. It was easy to use, it was quick, and it removed my makeup with no issues. But it had a bit of fragrance in it, and over the years I've found that the more I can reduce fragrance from my routine in general, the less risky things are."

"I'm picking the SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Cleansing Oil because this is one of very few cleansing oils where you may not necessarily need to double cleanse. I'm a fan of double cleansing, but I do not double cleanse every single night, if I double cleanse every night it just starts to feel a little too hard on my skin. That's why, especially when my skin is feeling a little more irritated, I really like to grab this particular cleansing oil, one step and done, and it doesn't leave any kind of film on your face. This is still my favorite in terms of a one step and done cleansing oil."
