Sincerely Miss Ash has reviewed more than 110 dry-skin products, and her approval rate for this category is 88%. She approved nearly all of them and named a handful of outright winners. When she does skip something, she says exactly why.
What does Sincerely Miss Ash recommend for dry skin?
What she keeps coming back to are products that support the skin barrier without feeling heavy or greasy. The ingredients she mentions most are ceramides, colloidal oatmeal, and panthenol. Panthenol is a form of vitamin B5 that helps skin hold on to moisture. She also flags fragrance-free formulas as a positive, and that comes up across several of her favorites. She often notes that her top picks work for combination and oily skin too, not just very dry skin.
Sincerely Miss Ash's dry skin picks, in her words
"This has 10% niacinamide, 5% tranexamic acid, and 2% alpha arbutin, all [...] tyrosinase inhibitors that help to brighten a dull complexion and fade post-acne marks and dark spots. It truly keeps your skin nice and even as much as possible even just using this on its own, and when I pair it with a vitamin C serum it truly takes my skin to the next level for brightness."
"If you have a lot of dryness, especially on your legs and arms, you're going to love it, and you're going to smell fabulous too. Golden Hour has white musk and amber, which I love a lot, my favorite scent in the brand, with Tangerine as my next favorite for the spring and summer months. I also [...] spray the Golden Hour fragrance mist on top of this so I smell great from morning until evening. I did pick up another one."
"This product will plump your skin like a dream if you want that plumpness and that youthful look. This one has five different types of hyaluronic acids, but this one contains polyglutamic acid. This ingredient is very similar to hyaluronic acid but it holds on to four times more moisture than hyaluronic acid, so we have two ingredients here that will plump and hydrate. I feel like because of that polyglutamic acid ingredient, this just takes your skin to the next level in terms of plumpness."
"I really love this brand. [...] This contains hyaluronic acid, ceramides, a triple lipid complex with fatty acids, lipids, and cholesterol, which is what our skin needs on an everyday basis to maintain skin health. There's also niacinamide, vitamin E, glycerin, and I believe even a vitamin C derivative in here as well. This is more geared to hydrating and repairing the skin, and it's great for all skin types. It's fragrance free and can be used every day, twice a day."
"The way that this makes your skin look and feel is insane. This has really helped my skin during the winter months. But even though we're basically spring now going into summer, I'm still going to use this because milky essences like this always keep my skin nice and balanced and hydrated whether I need it or not. It's just one product that I love to have in my routine at all times. [...] So, if you love milky essences, I think that you might really like this. Super lightweight."
"I've been using the OSEA Undaria Algae Body Butter [...] on and off for several years. Anytime I want another body butter in my routine, [...] this is always the one I'll repurchase because it truly acts like a real body butter, it's thick, rich, and very moisturizing on the skin. If you have dry, flaky, parched skin you are going to love this, I guarantee it."

What has Sincerely Miss Ash skipped for dry skin?
She skipped only a handful of products across more than 110 reviews. The SkinFix Barrier Restoring Gel Cream moisturized her skin well enough, she said, but when her skin really needed repair, it fell short. She would not buy the full size. She found the Josie Maran Pink Algae Pro Retinol Body Butter genuinely moisturizing, but the scent was so strong she had to spray cologne over her entire body just to get through using it.
"I've had this for a very very long time and the reason why it has taken me so long to finish this is because sometimes my skin can be okay with glycolic acid and then there are times where my skin gets a little irritated it gets a little bit angry. I think it's because I'm a tretinoin user now and I think that's why my skin has changed a little bit when it comes to glycolic acid, but again it's a hit and miss. This product was a little bit too sensitizing on my face."
"I feel like the ordinary and Neostrata are formulated perfectly. I have seen the best results with those and for the price point I much prefer to use those. The one from the ordinary and from Neostrata, they contain more anti-aging ingredients and so I just feel like to spend $61 on this, it's just not worth it for me. But I do think it's a great option if you love this brand and you want something that has that creamy texture, something that is a little bit more moisturizing on the skin."
"I feel like I would much prefer to use the Drunk Elephant one see how it goes with that before purchasing this but I do like the Biossance line and I would like to try this but I feel like I'm going to try the Drunk Elephant one first and see how it goes."
"This was an oil that never worked for me. [...] This oil is very pigmented, it has that dark reddish orange hue, which is natural, but it stains your skin. It can stain your clothing, your towels, your pillowcase, your hairline, especially if you have blonde, white, or gray hair. If you have black or brown hair, staining could also occur in that area as well. It is very potent. I've tried using it on its own, I've tried using just one drop, staining."
